College Sports Have Been Destroyed

perhaps the saddest aspect of the $hift in college sports is watching star players sit out Bowl games.
i guess that's where players heads are now. "Elf the team , ELF the fans . this is all about MonEy."

This. If we can retain a core of the best players - maybe 5-10 kids in football - I can get by with that. See Angeli. Only played 4 games this year but as long as an impact player comes back for at least 1 encore then this will be something we can work with.

My gawd the negativity here is too much sometimes.
6 winning seasons since 2002, two of them being 7-6, will do that to you.

Last year we had a few more long term type guys, but at the end of the day the best players were McCord, Meeks and Diggs. But the difference between this year and last year is stark. The only guys who have been here for 3+ years that I can think of who are really high level contributors are Gill and Villari.

Maybe this year will be the aberration. We will see. But the whole team is like a bunch of strangers, and it’s hard to feel connected to them even this late into the year.

if teams like Indiana and Vandy can be in the playoff picture, so can we!
All things being equal I would agree but we aren't in the BIG or SEC. Those schools are getting a lot more money than we are in the ACC. It's also one of the richest schools in the country and a giant state school so their boosters are on another level. Cignetti is getting paid 12 million a year now. I don't think we could afford that if we wanted to.

Someone made a post like this a few years back and I dismissed it as reactionary and over the top.

He was right and I was wrong.

Wish I could temember who it was, because I’d like to shake his hand.
