Went to Shakespeare in the Park last night at Thornden, the first time I've ever been. What a great time, not at all what I expected it would be. Stopped at XO Taco on the way home and had one of the best shrimp tacos I've ever had. Their chips are amazing but I was nonplussed by the guac.

All in all it was a great night. People that bitch about Syracuse are imbeciles, there is so much to do on any given day

It will remain doing business as usual until it's sold. I've been to Dominick's 3 or 4 times and was never a big fan but I know many people liked to dine there. So many possibilities for this place for a new owner.

The massive Developmental Center on Syracuse’s West Side is up for sale

Syracuse, N.Y. — One of Syracuse’s largest pieces of vacant property is officially on the market.

The 628,000 sq. ft. building that formerly housed the Syracuse Developmental Center was listed for sale last month by Pyramid Brokerage Company.

The building sits on a 47.8-acre lot on the city’s west side, between Tipperary Hill and Fowler High School. For years, it was among the city’s top tax-delinquent properties.

That is ridiculous. I mean, aren't we worried that this could lead to a slippery slope of suddenly removing the statues of ALL explorers who were responsible for genocide? Where would that leave us as a society?

I know chain restaurants are evil but I like UNO. Only one left in Onondaga county is Fayetteville.

Removing the statue from the center of the city and renaming the circle is the right thing to do. The statue can be moved to a place where the Italian immigrants can view it but it should not be the centerpiece of the city.

There’s literally no way to confirm the second question as their relationship with existence was different than ours. Of course genocide’s bad. So is racism, anti semitism and all other forms of societal sin. Im not saying that history justifies these occurrences. Im more saying that humanity’s advancement has always marched hand in hand with consequence, and part of being a human is learning from it and applying it to the future. It’s a worthwhile and difficult conversation. I suppose where my stand, or where I’d start being like “hey lets slow down”, is the defacing or removal of statues of say Winston Churchill or Theodore Roosevelt because through today’s perspective they were white supremacists.

according to Walsh that's what they plan to do:

"This space should be both a tribute to Italian Americans and a place of healing at which we celebrate our shared accomplishments,” Walsh said in a statement. “This decision is based on the fact that we can honor our Italian American community without focusing on a statue that has become the source of division over decades and overshadowed the original intent of the monument.”

Walsh will appoint a commission to design the changes to the circle and propose a new name.
