Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

Good stuff! I too went to XO Taco yesterday, planned to catch Much Ado About Nothing but missed it, hoping to get there next weekend. They could really use the support, Ronnie Bell has put so much work into those productions.
the entire cast was great but the two leads were outstanding. Next time I bring a blanket or chair and binoculars, probably a cooler too.

Mayor : Drebin, I don't want anymore trouble like you had last year on the South Side. Understand? That's my policy.

Frank : Yes. Well, when I see 5 weirdos dressed in togas stabbing a guy in the middle of the park in full view of 100 people, I shoot the bastards. That's *my* policy.

Mayor : That was a Shakespeare-In-The-Park production of "Julius Caesar", you moron!

damn beat me to it. I still had to post the video

Went to Shakespeare in the Park last night at Thornden, the first time I've ever been. What a great time, not at all what I expected it would be. Stopped at XO Taco on the way home and had one of the best shrimp tacos I've ever had. Their chips are amazing but I was nonplussed by the guac.

All in all it was a great night. People that bitch about Syracuse are imbeciles, there is so much to do on any given day
Their lobster taco was fantastic

Awesome idea and I hope it is successful...but I'd be fearful of gun violence. Unfortunately they'll need to expense in security and a medal detector for large community events.

I know the south side has issues, but it's not as if every place there is being shot up on a regular basis.

It will remain doing business as usual until it's sold. I've been to Dominick's 3 or 4 times and was never a big fan but I know many people liked to dine there. So many possibilities for this place for a new owner.

"Syracuse, N.Y. — Dominick’s Restaurant, which opened in Syracuse in 1980 and has been run by the same family for nearly 40 years, is for sale.

Cynthia Harrington, who operates Dominick’s and owns the restaurant with her three sisters, said the decision to put the 1370 Burnet Ave. restaurant on the market has been in the works for about 18 months and is not related to the coronavirus pandemic.

Harrington said she’s simply ready to retire from the restaurant. The owners originally planned to put the restaurant on the market in March, but that was delayed due to the pandemic."

Is this the same family that owns Tassone's Wine Garden on Rte 31 in Bville?

The massive Developmental Center on Syracuse’s West Side is up for sale

Syracuse, N.Y. — One of Syracuse’s largest pieces of vacant property is officially on the market.

The 628,000 sq. ft. building that formerly housed the Syracuse Developmental Center was listed for sale last month by Pyramid Brokerage Company.

The building sits on a 47.8-acre lot on the city’s west side, between Tipperary Hill and Fowler High School. For years, it was among the city’s top tax-delinquent properties.

think it’s a slippery slope to judge historical figures by today’s standards. That being said, I don’t really care about the statue or name of the circle, so have at it. Make it Melo Square or put up a statue of a coney

Removing the statue from the center of the city and renaming the circle is the right thing to do. The statue can be moved to a place where the Italian immigrants can view it but it should not be the centerpiece of the city.

Its being moved to a private location. It’d be nice if it were replaced by a more appropriate ode to Italian American contributions to Central New York. However, who knows which way the wind will blow on this one.
