No one goes. It’s a bit of chicken and egg. Declining attendance or lack of upkeep or change in buying patterns or the fact that it is literally a shooting gallery. Not sure a shopping mall can really be resurrected at this point in our national buying habits. That said, smarter people than me will figure it out.

Yeah...it's essentially a roast beef sandwich. Better than many. Not life-changing. I'd definitely consider the burger from Ale N Angus to be closer to "best in class" than this is within the universe of sandwiches, for whatever that's worth.

If I'm not mistaken -- and I could definitely be mistaken on this one -- NCAA wants host hotels to be full-service. That'd scratch most of those downtown locations and the Aloft as well. But there are some in the pipeline.

Maybe, but that’s a lot of open/wasted space in the walkways. The underground parking would be a big plus.

I actually worked at the Dick’s Sporting Goods in Shoppingtown Mall in the Shoe department for a short while in 2002-2003ish. I missed attending a number of Syracuse basketball home games that season because I was working… every once in a while we put the game up on the store projector screen at closing time (I watched the end of the home win vs. Pitt that way!), but I literally watched the 2003 OT win at Georgetown in the break room

You’re not wrong - I was disappointed with it seeing I’m a huge fan of Ale N Angus. Barely had any meat on it and was well done.

I think this article refers to one of them. It appears to be a full service restaurant. I am referring specifically to the Tempo by Hilton proposal, not the Fairfield Inn. It is not a done deal yet but it sounds very close to being confirmed.

The Onondaga Hotel recently announced that will be built on Warren and Fayetteville is another. The Marriott downtown is also surely considered a full service hotel.

That would get us to 4 full service hotels within city limits. I believe other hotel proposals are being discussed north of the city, some of which should be full service.

Good to see substantive progress being made on this front.

Cor Development Co., the company that controls much of the waterfront acreage in the Syracuse Inner Harbor, has struck a deal to build a high-end Tempo by Hilton hotel near the existing Aloft Hotel the company built nearly a decade ago, McMahon said.

The $83 million Tempo hotel would have 227 rooms, a restaurant and a patio bar overlooking the harbor.
McMahon said he meets frequently with Cor officials on development in the Inner Harbor, where the county is building a $100 million aquarium. Hilton officials have said the aquarium was a factor in putting their flag on the proposed hotel, McMahon said.

Cor plans to apply for site approval for the hotel later this year and will likely begin construction in the spring of 2026, he said.

In the town of Clay, another developer is planning to build a new 160-room hotel, McMahon said. The Residence Inn and Fairfield Inn & Suites will be a $24 million development, he said.

i have said for years -- move everything viable and booming to the newer side, keep the movie theater and food court (and revamp it a bit)

then turn the old macys, jcpenny, etc into apartments -- same with the lord and taylor side.

Essentially make the mall part mall, part living community.

Otherwise, push it into the lake, its over

I think someone said the cost of converting the department store space to housing would be too impractical and that It would be simper to raze and start over.

Part of that is because Pyramid sat on that long for an incredible amount of time with no other plans that to collect tax breaks. That being said, COR hasn't been much better, but at least there's been a few projects.
