Development in and Around Syracuse Discussion

Was he responsible for the toy train that used to ride around the DeWitt store?

I don't know? I do know that he had a very impressive collection of model trains. He showed me some photos of the layout. Had to be worth some bucks.

I'm just guessing, but I think he would have been reluctant to let anyone mess with his trains. Collectors can be like that.

omg, this is terrible, terrible news. Whatever replaces Tusk will fall to the same fate as the guy who tried to replace JRyans is going to be my guess. Too many loyal customers of the Tusk are not going to take this well and will avoid it if it becomes something similar.

God Damnit
Sht, I'm going to have to make a trip out there just to go to Tusk one more time.

LMAO what in the actual?

Minch Lewis is a bright man who's 180 degrees wrong on this matter.

He's sidelined on this one, which is why they pulled this PR stunt on the day when the actual decisionmakers were in Syracuse.

I read yesterday Eisenhower didn’t originally want the interstates through inner cities, but Congress overruled him at the time.

Correct, he obviously wasn't involved in the planning and was very surprised when he saw that the finished product plowed through all these neighborhoods. He was advocating for the European model of intercity highways that end where the city street grids begin.

I wish it was a joke.

How about we build a giant slingshot that fires thru traffic from the soon-to-be-former DestinyUSA to the Jamesville Quarry? A handful of vehicles might miss every year and it will be tremendously expensive, but that's the cost of progress, amirite?

The former Stoop restaurant has been converted into two Airbnb units (upstairs, I’m assuming? Guessing ground floor is still a retail/restaurant space). Might be a solid Gameday option for out of town travelers.

According to my wife Kasai Ramen is moving into the Blue Tusk and the deal has been in the works while the Tusk was still under their lease.

That's disappointing ... Kasai Ramen is OK for a decent downtown place, but since most COVID restrictions have been lifted, I've been once and it was underwhleming.
