Did we learn anything today?

I think they need to see what happens Friday. If TDV struggles, then you have to turn it over to GS. They played an inferior opponent, so I don’t now how much you can take away from it, other than building confidence maybe?

This board has lost its credibility. It’s becoming the hoops board. Absurdly negative

This reminds me of a story. I have a buddy who camps in the area I live. It’s a rural area….. he’s a rural kind of guy too. He has a certain affection for a certain orange guy in politics and loves a good conspiracy theory but doesn’t realize it’s a conspiracy theory.

So here’s the meat of the story. Hopefully someone is still with me here or I’m typing with little fat fingers on a small iPhone which is a pain in the ____.

We’re out on a 4-5 hr bike ride. We’ve passed no less than 20 political signs for someone to be president again, hatred for Cuomo, etc. I’m being conservative with 20. We pass 2 houses right near each other supporting an older gentlemen who some feel is a very sleepy fellow. My buddy turns his head to me and says, “Lot of liberals out your way, crazy”.

You’ve read up to this point and thought this thread was absurdly negative?

I learned that the Albany coach is the guy who would try to cut you off in the Arby's drive through lane.

Then get out and punch your minivan a bunch of times.

30,156 was the attendance according to the espn recap. There were lots of invisible fans if there was 30k... at max there was 20k actually there in my view though the student turnout was better than i expected.

What we learned...Absolutely nothing.

I am pretty sure that we have 2 totally different QB's who neither are going to win you many games on their own. With that said I would do everything I could to take as much pressure off one of your true elite athletes in Sean Tucker. The kid is a stud and I think we have seen what Devito could do, and it's not terribly impressive. I think with Shrader out there he is enough of a threat running the ball he could potentially take some pressure off of Tucker.

Other than Tucker we don't have the offensive playmakers to sustain 10 play drive after 10 play drive. I'm not sure how much it will matter in the end, but I think with Shrader back there he will at least give you a chance at some big plays and at very worst not be a huge step down, if at all, from TD.

I gotta honestly say I learned only 1 thing:
1- Alford should be playing. You can't teach height.

Other than that, things re-affirmed were:
1- Devito throws a nice deep ball when given time.
2- TD will dominate lesser competition due to #1.
3- Sean Tucker is a very good RB. If he can do this against P5 competition he might be great.
4- Shrader has potential that needs more PT to develop.

As others have said, Liberty is the demarcation point of the season. The ACC has several beatable teams.

What Shrader does is potentially what made Eric effective. The Defensive Coordinator has to account for the QB on every play. With Eric they had to have one player make sure to track Eric. If you didn't he could and did take off.
You had to game plan for Eric, you don't have to do that with Tommy. He is a pocket passer, so you pressure him to get him out of his timing, he doesn't make plays on the run.

I learned that our game plan for Rutgers was even worse than I thought after watching Tucker go off today. How he only had 13 carries and none in the second half is criminal
I was upset that he wasn’t given the ball at the goal line to get the sixth TD. Could have tied the school record.

I didn’t learn anything new. Tucker stud. Defense above average. QB still a big question mark. Team lacks focus and discipline and that’s on the coach.
10 replies into the thread and I think this is precisely the answer.

I hope Devito learned that his offense line cannot give him enough time he wants. He needs to prepare himself to throw the ball early or throw away if necessary. He cannot try to pass the ball in the ideal time and hold it too long.
