Does anyone think the LSU player

No, but this sort of thing is prevalent in sports (soccer is definitely the worst) and is a form of lying. I lost a lot of respect for Jeter a few years ago when he pretended that a pitch hit him in the hand when it actually hit the end of the bat. I guess winning is preferred to personal integrity by some.
I once saw Jeter square around to bunt and then swing away. Hated him with a passion after that. And don't even get me started on how I feel about Gene Michael after seeing him pull off the hidden ball trick one time.

And those play action passes! Pretending you're going to run and then pass it. What's fair about that??

just about everything that takes place in the batter's box is theater. So what do you think of a catcher trying to game the umpire by swinging his mitt into the batter's box after a bad pitch? I mean your post can't be serious right?

I don't see how, in that particular situation, where a ref would throw a flag. I'd like to think a quality ref would decipher the context of the situation (joy vs. anger, etc.) and one's motivation, intent, etc. and just rule it as incidental/inadvertent contact.

Yes thank god the refs have more common sense the few people on this board that think Dixon is dumb enough to throw a close fisted "punch" at somebody's helmet.

I finally read that thread today. Couldn't believe my eyes and almost wished I didn't have any. Mercifully, it was locked.

Actually I started this thread tongue in cheek in hopes of provoking more hijinks after I saw that other thread was locked.

One is trying to deceive the opponent, that's part of the game; the other is lying to the ref so that the ref gives you an advantage. You don't see the difference?

Scott Shafer lied.

Pretending to kick the FG and faking everyone out. No personal integrity at all. ;)

Depends on how squeaky-clean you thought Jeter was. I was a little surprised when I saw him do something like that. Not a terrible thing and I can't say I lost respect for him but I honestly thought he was the kind of guy that wouldn't try to deceive an umpire. It did change my opinion of him.

You clearly succeeded. :)

Oh I know. I just never had a chance to comment on the other one before the locking, so I used the opportunity you gave me.
