Duke Postgame

We are the joke of CBB I’m done ✌️ this season is OVER.

we’re an absolute embarrassment in the CBB landscape. Red should have been fired after BC. It’s a slap in the face to the fans to let him hit the sidelines every day. Don’t care if it doesn’t fix anything, show that you GAF about your basketball program and make a change

Just a complete disgrace. No other way to put it.
- As I said in the game thread, Kiyan jogging to the ball and getting beat by a guy who is sliding up by 30 is all you have to know about these two programs. I’m not just picking on him. It’s symptomatic of the two cultures.
-Donnie was absolutely atrocious. He should watch a video of this game and watch how Kyle played compared to how he played.
-i’m just so tired of JJ. He was clearly trying to get his in the second half. In what world should he take 13 shots and Kingz should take nine.
-I don’t know what was worse, watching uncontested dunks in the second half by Duke or watching us go one on one on the offensive end. This was a complete embarrassment. I didn’t think this season could bother me again, but this was beyond what I imagined we could see tonight.
-however, it would be unfair to lump Kyle in with the rest of the team tonight. Again, as I said the game thread, I wish we had him for more than one season. He gave it everything he had tonight. Nobody else did, including the coaches. Duke is obviously in a significantly different league but the lineup that Red had in the first half when the game was close was like spotting Duke another 10 points.
What's worse then the uncontested dunks is allowing them to shoot over 60% from 3.

Look, Red is gone. He’s an alum and former assistant and they don’t want to embarrass him. There’s been much discussion about the pros and cons of letting him go before the end of the season. We just came off a beating and it takes an emotional toll. But, I really do think you need to consider firing him now. The program needs to show some pride. We have to make a statement that this once proud program will not stand for this anymore. It has to be considered. It just has to be. I don’t see how you wait for the inevitable ACC tournament loss. At this point, messaging is more important than whatever happens these last weeks of the season. The message should be about seeking greatness not accepting complete mediocrity or worse.

“They don’t want to embarrass him.”

Nobody is bigger than the program. Feelings be damned.

I’m gonna watch this ISU game so I can appreciate good bball

Based on late 2025 reports, Iowa State men's basketball has an estimated NIL budget of approximately $5 million. Additionally, the team is set to receive at least $1 million in NIL funds through participation in the Players Era Festival.
  • Men's Basketball NIL: Reported around $5 million for the 2025-26 cycle.

#6 team in the nation by the way for people complain that we don't have NIL to compete (not directed at you specifically Bulldog04 ). It is all culture and coaching.

How can we compete with a desirable metropolis like Ames, Iowa?! Who wouldn’t want to play and coach there?!

I thought they should have relieved him of his duties a bit ago, but I get they are going to let him play it out.

However, isn’t this just as embarrassing for him and the program to keep him on?

The only discussion is going to be who the next HC is from now until the new HC is formally chosen.

We aren’t making the NCAAT. We aren’t doing any damage in the ACCT.

We’re so far down the rabbit hole because of how long this has gone on since JB’s end of tenure to now that the only thing that matters to anyone is who is the next HC. Thats it. What question is there to ask?

“Hey coach, what was your thinking taking out most of your starters early in the game when it was close?”

Who cares what the answer is at this point.

To anyone expressing the opinion that it isn't as simple as hiring a quality coach who can implement good systems on both sides of the ball, and find system fits without breaking the bank -- yeah, it actually is that simple.

Miami (Oh) is in the top 25. Remind me again:

  • What is their NIL budget?
  • How much did they spend on transfers this past off-season?
  • How many 4- and 5- stars do they have on their roster?
  • What facilities do they have that offer competitive advantage?

Yeah, it IS that simple.

There's an argument to be made that they're embarrassing him more by letting him continue to coach
Agree. Removing him now should be a real consideration no matter what Wildhack said about meaningful games in March. That is not happening. No reason to delay. Make a statement about the larger aspirations of the program. Relieve him sooner than later.

Why should they care about embarrassing him? He embarrasses himself every night
