Dukes Banchero

So you think they just swapped seats when pulled over?

Different times we live in.Just about everything is on camera.
I don’t know, but I do know what’s happened in the past. We will never know for certain unless there’s a video.

I just googled it. .08 is 5 drinks an hour for someone weighing 180 pounds and 6 drinks an hour for someone weighing 220 pounds.

That differs from my memory, but I think you are closer to correct.

If you are 250 lbs?
I’ve been hitting the gym, I lost a couple inches on my waistline and thought I lost a ton of weight, ended up gaining 35 lbs and hovering at 280. Either my tolerance is high or 2 drinks an hour is insane to catch a dwi charge.

You’re saying a 220 pound man could drink a case of beer in 4 hours and still legally drive?

I’m not saying it.

What’s the big deal about that? Lots of students have cars in college. Big whoop. His parents, who are successful people and former D1 college athletes (his mom is a former WNBA player), likely leased the car for him while he’s at Duke for a year. Considering that he’s a future multimillionaire, why wouldn’t they do that?
The significance of it being Banchero’s SUV is that it raises the question of who was really driving the vehicle. I know that if it was my vehicle, I probably wouldn’t have let anyone else drive it, maybe unless I was really seriously impaired.

What makes you think that?

If the cops suspected they switched driver/passenger after pulling them over, but couldn't prove it, they could arrest them both for drunk driving (or accessory) just to make life harder on then.

Dealing with a criminal matter is a big hassle even if the charges get dismissed quickly.

My initial thought is that K assigned his grandson to babysit the star.

Isn't that what they did? Both were arrested.

Right... Unless they suspected wrongdoing on the part of the passenger, the DWI is only on the driver.

Why, then, would they charge the passenger with anything? Hence the switch theory.

I could see situations where a not so honest cop would accuse them of the switch to have an excuse to search or otherwise hassle the passenger. But not to these guys in North Carolina. I would expect the opposite treatment, if anything.

Cop: I can see you guys are both super drunk, and shouldn't be driving. I've got some buddies coming to make sure you get home safely, while I erase evidence of this traffic stop. Have a nice night. Go Duke!

Unless the cop was a UNC guy...
