I want to preface this by saying you are correct. Every victim should have their voice and be able to do it free from ridicule, every victim deserves the utmost support.

With that being said, those two were in every bar on the North side of the lake talking about how they were going to take Syracuse to the cleaner and bragging about what they were doing.
Do you frequent those bars? They put the yokell in the lokell.

Man, JB has left A LOT of money on the table.

Yes, and no.

His and our standing are nowhere near commanding a similar salary to K @ Duke.

That’s like saying Frank Beamer left a lot of $ on the table during his career as compared to Saban or Dabo.

I’m saying he could have coached somewhere else for a buttload more money.

In theory.

Assuming
Money matters that much to him.
He would have had the same success and longevity elsewhere.

Neither is remotely a given.

There’s a value to JB of being a Syracuse lifer and icon that no amount of $ elsewhere could ever buy.

Name on the front or the back

Yes, college is a "name on the front" television product.

But if you think Duke is going to be Duke, and then Zion left right before the tournament, people would not be happy.

That's my point. If this becomes widespread, and the NCAA becomes even more of an audition platform for players - and most importantly, if they don't care about playing for and winning championships - then the sport is going to substantially decline in viewership.

Nobody watches glorified exhibition games.

God forbid JB for having an opinion.
Bilas also has the right to his own opinion, but how about state the facts and not try and conjure up some racist BS theories.

Maybe our mediocrity is explained by the fact that JB feels that beating NC State and Wake Forest are "monster wins".

Coach K’s comments basically throws JB under the bus. Fran disagreed with Jay Bilas and said Duke is playing better without him.

Did JB say more than the quote they are posting (that Duke is a better team without him)?

I'm only asking because the talking heads seem to be making this out to be that JB was criticizing Johnson's decision.

The two aren't related as much as people are making it out to be.

Seth Greenberg basically just said the same thing as JB and went into more detail.

He could have gotten more money short term but he doesn’t get the tenure he got here.
He wasn’t fired after either probation.
He is only coach to get probation times at one place and keep his job.

The loyalty has gone both ways.
He could have coached anywhere else for the last 25ish years at double the income minimum. And if you wanna lop off the last 5 years because you think he’s “tenured” here at SU, that’s fine, make it 20 years.

Math is still math no matter how much folks seek to minimize JB at every turn.

This can’t be proven.
Basketball salaries didn’t explode till Conference expansion money for TV networks got into the sport. He would be making 1 million and a half a year he may have gotten a couple hundred thousand more at another school but not the millions you’re talking about.

So your opinion is that JB maxed out his career salary by staying at SU?

We need to cut ties with JB . This is highly inappropriate , should have kept his mouth shut. It’s not enough that our once proud program is in shambles now we get bad press to go with it.

Maybe, with JB having us so irrelevant for several years in a row now, perhaps JB's thinking here is that some bad press is better than no press at all? ;)

I think he could’ve made maybe a Million or two million dollars more if he left before the expansion money got into the sport.

However I doubt he would’ve had the longevity at the other spot and wouldn’t still be there making the 2 1/2 million plus he makes now and has made the last seasons

It’s not like he’d be unemployed though. Some P5 program would give him a try.

If he wanted to coach, he’d have a job and I’m sure would be handsomely paid just based on his 1K wins and HOF status.

Waaaay to much is being make of this one comment.

And our program is not in a 'shambles'. it's in a rut. But we are still 12-6 with a winning record in a power conference and would have been much better if our center hadn't torn his knee up 4 minutes into the season.

That isn’t why the frustration level is up.
It’s not this season.
The continuation of the status quo in almost facet of the program.
When that status quo is mediocrity.

If JB changed some stuff up and it caused taking one step back to go forward their would be more patience.
He made himself the story with Jalen Johnson for no reason.
He should know that.
It doesn’t matter if you are right or wrong anymore narratives are all the media will use when it’s filling content.

If you step back, how do you know you are going to go forward?

And they were victims of sexual assault they should’ve taken them to the cleaners.

That is where you have to trust the process of the coach/person in charge.
We used to actual recruit personnel to the zone. Buddy/Joe and the center aren’t recruited for the zone.
We are in a rut where we play like we used to even if the pieces don’t fit that idea.

Thus if we changed things up a little it could cause some losses in the short term but if the talent is there be successful.

I can say what we are doing now won’t cause us to be a contender we will just continue being mediocre.
Which is why JB should just stop talking about stuff that isn’t going to do anything but fill media content that doesn’t help him.
