It also makes sense in that his recruiting has more of a Texas/Gulf Coast focus to it.

He helped out immeasurably by getting those A & M transfers to come here, but that's not generally part of our recruiting footprint. I suspect he's probably gone.

Probably a good move for Elijah.

As good of a recruiter he is, we didn’t make any splash defensive line recruit wins. I may be naive but didn’t see the hype.
I mean as far as offers go, Rodgers, Wilson, Houston and Haskell might be the best high school dline haul in Syracuse history. Granted, I’m not sure who Elijah was responsible for but I am sure he was involved.

This would be good for Elijah and us. We save money. He does what he’s best at.
Interesting take and I 100% respect your input.

Playing devil’s advocate a little bit…In a vacuum if we were ever to pull someone like Erob as DT coach from somewhere else that might be bigger than landing CR IMO and we would be ecstatic.

….But I also understand the 💰 aspect of it and maybe that money gets spent efficiently somewhere else so I’m kind of indifferent at this point..

It’s also the issue of having the demoted coach still around. It’s better for the new DC too. I expected him to move on and honestly hope he does. Sometimes it’s the right move professionally and personally. Elijah is a good guy. Great recruiter. Just wasn’t ready to be a DC.

Would be a coup to keep him, but I'm sure feelings were hurt when he was demoted. Hard for guys to get past that.

Can’t blame him with a pseudo demotion coming here. He definitely did not live up to the hype but he’s certainly a good recruiter. Does not seem to be enough of an X’s and O’s guy yet in his development.

Sometimes guys are simply better as position coaches. George McDonald was an awful OC here and yet he’s making bank following Lane from Ole Miss to LSU as the WR coach. LSU will coincidentally have 2 of our biggest coordinator disappointments as position coaches lol.
