McNabb didn't have the eye popping numbers Dungey could end up getting. I think 8 wins with ridiculous numbers could keep him in the conversation.

For what it's worth, McNabb was 5th in the Heisman voting in 1998, aka he missed being invited by one guy.

Dungey’s going to be like one of those QBs at Texas Tech during the Mike Leech days that put up huge numbers, but their teams were never national contenders so they had no shot of winning the Heisman but always finished in top 10 votes. If he stays healthy, I could see him finishing somewhere in top 10.

he wasn't invited was my point. He was the most dynamic qb in college that year and still wasn't popular enough nationally and/or our team wasn't top 5 to even get the attention of voters.
Dungey will have to pull off a Flutie like season (top 10 ranking, big wins vs clemson/nd) for him to even be remotely considered and be invited. I hope it happens but a 8 win season won't even wake anyone up.

Yes, they did. Maybe he was thinking of Paul Hornung's 2-8 record that helped him take the 1956 Heisman over Jim Brown (among other obvious factors from the '50s).

Right that didn't allow us to become a top 10 team. I consider that to be Pasqualoni's worst coaching job ever. Truly had all the tailwind one could need for a real special season and couldn't figure out a way to beat an inferior team on the road.

If we win 8 games, ED stays healthy and he puts up solid numbers he will stay in the conversation. Grier is going to put up big numbers but Haskins is the one that really impressed me. We'll see what happens when these guys start playing real teams. Tua doesn't have a chance because at some point Hurts is going to see some time.
