When kenny payne was in his 2-year run, the AD said the fans want to be good so bad, and the way he said it you could tell he felt it in his soul. He fired Payne after 2 seasons and now a short time later Louisville is a Top 10 team. Red is not nearly as bad as Payne. But also the fans demanding excellence at Louisville kept the short leash. Hope our fans demand excellence as this season progresses and we don’t see more of these posts about adjusting expectations or moral wins. I want to watch a powerhouse contender not pray our season lasts past the new year each season.

Out of curiosity, why Hodgson?

He seems like a guy some glommed onto a couple of years ago, when he had a more exciting profile, but the results haven't lived up to the billing.

Alabama hasn't missed a beat without him, and his results have been unimpressive as a HC.

He seems very similar to Red -- career assistant, reputation as a solid recruiter, lacking with respect to X's and O's, not a very good offensive coach.

I think we need a guy with a proven track record of success. Skinn makes a lot more sense than trying to reach for unproven guys, IMO. Tried that, and it bombed.

I go to a handful of GMU games a year...he's a really good coach, tight system.

On a good team JJ doesn't play 10 minutes if he gets off the bench at all. From 1987 to 90 he doesn't play. And the championship season he doesn't play. Yet on this team he gets major minutes, that tells you Red is in over his head.

He takes every single minute that Mike Edwards played.

Let’s be real the people here don’t want a program builder. They want immediate results. Basically that means when we play this tourney over thanksgiving next year and get 3 top 25 teams in 48 hours we expect wins. I’l know for sure a lot of these names are not doing that.

Imagine we got another start like this next year because there’s no take backs on the hill. Wildhack will be giving the guy minimum 3 years.

I never tried to argue for Jerry being the next SU coach. Maybe that was earlier in the thread. I am a Siena alum and am very happy with his success there. I couldn’t hope for anything better!

They will not be getting the job, nor do they deserve it. Pretty cut and dry. If you want Syracuse to go back to being a big-time national brand, fans have to stop thinking like a small-time, regional one.

Did any coach look at Kyle and Jj shoot free throws this summer and think we’re good? Took me one game to realize we are in checkmate. Can’t shoot reliably from field which suggests we play uptempo, however the 2 people we want with ball in hands in uptempo can’t hit the broad side of the barn from line. We’re kinda screwed

I'm quite optimistic about the team I'm most concerned with how Freeman fits back in. I'm not going so far as to say we are better without Freeman but I do like White and Kyle playing together, and particularly for the Houston matchup I think it helped us.

This is easily Red's best team and if we miss the tournament it would be hard to argue that he should not be fired
