Fire Autry

He takes every single minute that Mike Edwards played.
No because Edward's was strictly a point guard who had a 2 to 1 assist ratio . And only took 184 shots and had 178 assists. You had a lot of players on that team who took the shots . DC, Billy, Stevie, Dave Johnson, Leron Ellis, you had Tony Scott as a three point shooter off the bench.

Schertz is the perfect fit and the guy I want. He’s from Brooklyn and has won everywhere he’s been at the low and mid major level. If he wins at St Louis this year, and I think he will, he should be the guy that Wildhack targets. I’m gonna write up a post about him on Friday or this weekend.
One of my former players is currently on his staff.

Not after they just spent over $200 million renovating it.

Yes…which is also why the idea we’d go for some basketball focused conference set-up has zero percent chance of happening. There’s literally no option other than to try to compete at the highest level in football and deal with whatever that means for basketball. It would be financially irresponsible to do anything else.

Has to have absolutely 0 connection to Cuse. You know how there's always six degrees of Kevin Bacon? It has to be like that but with Boeheim and still defy the rule so there's literally no ties.

Syracuse isn’t exactly a poor school, still has 15k students a year, and isn’t in Utah. I’m just saying that complaining that private schools can’t compete is ridiculous.
Tell me you know little about the depth of LDS resources without telling me you know very little about LDS resources. The pockets of Mormons are uber deep and they tithe 10%+ like they’re contributing to their 401k’s (and they do that too).

So many excuses, Christ you’d think Syracuse is the smallest, least attended, and the worst funded school of all time

Accurate. You’d be surprised how much real estate they own in even New York.

You’re also arguing with someone that doesn’t really have an idea so might not be worth it.

It’s like people already forgot schools in Utah are pushing the NIL maxes for college players. They broke the record for that kid. Almost 4.5 million.

It’s time for him and the staff to go. Constantly has his team looking unprepared, can’t win Quad 1 games, etc. and has had 3 years to show something. He has failed MISERABLY, and it’s time for him to go. Adrian Autry = Kenny Payne, and it’s time for Syracuse to take the Louisville route and fire their HC and go OUTSIDE of their program for the next one.

Shared elsewhere, but I urge fans to take a long look at Josh Schertz at St. Louis, and watch them this season. Was a finalist for Louisville before they went with Kelsey.

Took the worst job in the Valley at Indiana St to the conference finals against DeVries (now at IU), and will be a contender in the A10 this season. System, system, system with him re: fans concerns on offense. A thing of beauty to watch - would be a homerun for us.

And he's got a hell of a story.
Great article, thanks.

So why doesnt red get some help coaching offense? I heard dan hurley saying he makes the team pass 8 times in practice before shooting. This stuff isnt rocket science, why isnt he going to get help. Having our guys just stand around on offense is embarassing.

I thought that dude he brought to recruit the DMV was billed as the "offensive coordinator"... if not him than what about that guy who was a head coach he brought in last year? None of these guys knows how to coach an offense?

Maybe it's just me, but this ending seemed obvious from day 1.
To me this is the bottom line. Autry was replacing a legend, with not much of a coaching search, etc. He was never going to work out. It would have been a surprise if he did. To me the guy AFTER the guy was always the one I hoped would get the program back on track.

The Buzz Williams carousel should be open in another yr or so
Funny thing is I used to mention Buzz Williams five years ago as the type of coach we likely could attract (ie. not Jay Wright or Rick Pitino). People laughed and said we would do better. Times change and I think someone like him would be a good fit here. The Dan Mullen of college ball.

I think one of Autry's greatest failings is not building an A-caliber coaching staff. Let's be honest, Griff has proven very little, Englestad - not sure what he brings to the table but he was mediocre at best at MSM. Straughn earns his keep as a recruiter. No idea about the actual coaching. Given last season, it is still shocking to me Autry did not bring on a proven Xs and Os guy. That failure may in the end be his undoing.

Duke figured it out.

We hired the wrong guy. It’s ok it happens (a lot at Syracuse mind u)

If the losses continue I’d move on asap. He’s not making any money. They gave financial flexibility w reds deal.
