I don't think they will either. I also recognize that it's daunting to replace a legendary coach. If Autry gave us anything, he's sucked so bad that 'Cuse fans will welcome a national search.

Also, I like G'Mac as much as everybody else. However, if we just hire him without a real process, then I'm going to lose my mind.

You should, however, write off the season because Red is the coach.

Not ready to do that yet. Had we played a team today that we were supposed to play today based on our 0-2 record and won, I doubt the fan base would be as incensed as it is. I have not been impressed with Red’s head coaching tenure and we fail to make the tournament I will be the first to support his firing. Changing coaches now is not the answer.

I love Gmac too. Great guy and obviously a Cuse legend. However, if Autry was picked over him initially and this is what we’ve gotten and seen from Autry, why should we hire Gmac?

We're not going to do that, but if the next L comes next Tuesday (which is looking fairly likely at this point), it will be time to start the search on the DL.

I would hope whatever double-secret external search committee plan-b process that Wildhack is keeping in his back pocket goes into secret meetings next week... If we are going to do this right (and that's an unknown as well.)

It's likely gonna be a long season.

We have all been hoping for the best with a newly-constructed, NIL-rich team and pieces, but deep down, we all knew this trajectory was VERY possible in year 3 and given the recent past.

All that said, it's still early season and things could possibly turn around, but you can only dig a hole so deep before you aren't getting out of it (to make the tourney.)

My biggest concern with this team and frankly, Autry, is the team apparently has talent but shows no ability maintain discipline. When the lead goes Syracuse’s way, every time without fail they take their foot off the peddle chuck up some threes and play bad d. Aside from that the offensive scheme is terrible and has been terrible. Mostly it just favors iso ball, resulting in bad shots. For the past three years under Red and probably the last few years of Boeheim, the offense has continually looked clueless. No off ball movement or complexity.

We had a bad game. Not even a bad game, a bad second half to a game. Once the wheels started falling off the whole team did not respond well. I am not going to defend Autry but I’m not ready to write off the season based on 20 minutes of basketball. Let’s get Donnie back in the rotation get into ACC play and see what happens. This team has played 6 1/2 games of solid defense we haven’t seen in many years and maybe the offense will play better as the season goes on.

I've seen where he has a strained achilles. He's not coming back, at least not within the next month or 2.

Tennessee is a top 10 team in my opinion and we do not match up well with them, especially with Donnie out. The only thing in our favor is the game is in the Dome.

This was the final straw. We literally gave up in the 2nd half. This was a very very winnable game at halftime.

Ironic. I’m sitting here recovering from Achilles tendon surgery. 5 month recovery time. People pushing 80 should not be playing 4 games of softball in a week.
