There’s a universe where Boeheim is still coaching *today* due to the loyalties of board members and influential boosters. And as bad as Autry is, imagine Boeheim still here with the talent level wayyyy worse than it is now. Cuz that’s what we’d have.

I wish there was a universe where the NCAA gave Boeheim a show cause and we weren't dealing with any of this the last 10 years.

JB stopped recruiting years ago. If he was allowed to coach after the debacle 3 seasons ago then we’d have mid-major level talent now. We’d be winning single digits.

It’s time for him and the staff to go. Constantly has his team looking unprepared, can’t win Quad 1 games, etc. and has had 3 years to show something. He has failed MISERABLY, and it’s time for him to go. Adrian Autry = Kenny Payne, and it’s time for Syracuse to take the Louisville route and fire their HC and go OUTSIDE of their program for the next one.

There is a blue print for change, and going blue in the face insisting you can’t make mid season changes doesn’t change anything, in fact it is even more of an indictment on the state of things that the path for needed change can happen but won’t

It’s not just about us. You aren’t going to find someone in the middle of the season unless it’s someone who isn’t currently coaching. You aren’t getting an up and comer to bail out on their own program mid year to take a new job when they most certainly could have the same opportunity at the end of the year.

Meanwhile you will lose a bunch of the kids too and end up with an even bigger mess than the one we already have. There is more to lose going the mid season fire route than you think.

Imagine you find a guy who is out of coaching who turns out to be another bad hire and start a cycle of failure instead of waiting a few months to find the best option and having a real chance to turn things around..

Never underestimate a narcissist when they’re being shown the door.

My real frustration with this whole line of argument is it ignores the realities that JW has a boss too. And his boss answers to a lot of folks on the Board, many of whom had personal relationships with JB. None of this happens in a vacuum where you’re allowed to just do what’s right. I wish JW had the authority to do what we all wish he had done. But it’s not that easy.

The fact we have to keep explaining this is mind-boggling.

Its not excuses its just reality. Syracuse doesn't fire coaches mid-season, full stop. Second even if they did who is gonna coach the team, Griff? Pete Sala? Devo?

I give you the same answer I did 2 weeks ago. The entire staff stinks. There’s no Jim O’Brien on the bench.

And it’s wasted energy. Every minute this winter needs to be spent back channeling to agents and intermediaries for our next coach. Not managing a coaching change in January. That’s unnecessary effort for an increasingly lost season.

That would take away the two best possible options (Saint Louis coach and Luke Murray) off the table. I don’t understand why that would be appealing to anyone.

My dream is to hire a mercenary with the plan of them knowing they are not a permanent solution, just make them passable on offense to salvage gate revenue. Players are changing regardless of who the coach this, at this point it is more than just the basketball program that is affected. I highly doubt there’s a former coach or tv analyst out there that wouldn’t be wiling to do that for 2 months.

That scenario would only ever go the way you want in a simulation or video game. Real life you wouldn’t find a capable person to take the role and you would lose half the team if not more either physically or mentally.
