If we ever want to win in the tournament I don't want Tony Bennett.
That would be a pretty strong hire. Checks all the boxes.King Rice
There's no way GMac is getting the HC job, but I guess the question is - who (if anybody) is going out West with Hopkins? Is AA joining him?
Hear Jason Hart is going to leave USC and link up with Hopkins UW
John Beilein
Let's just ignore one another. Others can enjoy your tantrums"That's outrageous!"
I'd think that Red is ahead of GMac on the totem pole.
In 2006, Autry and his family moved to Northern Virginia. In Northern Virginia, Autry began his coaching career as the associate head coach at Bishop Ireton Catholic High School. In the spring of 2007, Autry became involved in the AAU circuit, by becoming the coach of the 14-Under squad with NOVA United.
During the 2007-2008 school year, Autry was named an assistant coach at Paul VI High School. In 2008, Autry switched AAU teams and became an assistant coach for the 17-Under AAU squad Team Takeover.
In the fall of 2008, Autry was hired by Virginia Tech's Head Men's Basketball coach Seth Greenberg [16] as the Director of Basketball Operations. Autry held that position for two years and was then promoted to assistant basketball coach for the Hokies. In the spring of 2010, Autry was on his way to the University of Dayton [2][17] to become the associate head coach under Archie Miller. However, he never made it there. A position with his alma mater Syracuse University[18] became available when Rob Murphy (basketball) was named the head coach at Eastern Michigan University. Autry quickly accepted the position and remains there now.[19][20] Autry currently coaches and develops the forwards position.
That means JB still might be out before the 2017-18 season. At this point I'd bet money on Boeheim lasting as coach longer than our current president is in office(this isn't meant to be political).
SU better give Tony Bennett a blank check. The future depend so on it.
If we are thinking outside the box, what about Gregg Marshall?
Really? I rather see SU go 20-10 scoring 75 ppg and have an outside shot at the Final Four than go 25-5 scoring 60 ppg and have the potential of Pitt in the NCAAs.
Mitch Henderson PrincetonSerious predictions/options only please.
Whether JB's here for 1 more year or 3, we need to start thinking about the future. Who's realistic and provides us a favorable future, keeping money in mind. I don't believe SU will give us the wallet that other programs of our calibre are granted.
Only if he agrees to drop the last "g" in his first name
It's a silent GOnly if he agrees to drop the last "g" in his first name
Oh Lord put me to sleep if I have to watch that style of play.
If he did bet Patrick would get a nice ass't job.
He'd have a much better opportunity to recruit higher end players in Syracuse. I think it'd be a homerun hire. I don't think our offense can get worse than it has been. We were saved this year by natural scorers in Andrew White and Tyus Battle paired with an NBA product in Tyler Lydon.
GMac is JB's boy. I remember once seeing JB interviewed by Michael Kay. JB was asked who he'd want in a foxhole with him. He answered very quickly- Gerry McNamara.
He's more Hops boy.
Bennett makes about 2.1 a year, we could definitely up that price. UVA would be the one having to open up the wallet seeing as we have everything to offer.Fair point but I don't see the next coach coming from a fellow ACC school. SU would have to open up the vault. That ain't happenin'.
