Coaches are like chicks: the best ones are always interested in much more than money, and if you don't pursue, you never know if you could have gotten them. He's also one of the ten highest paid coaches in America. Don't get me wrong - with Pearl31's permission - I'd drive to Wichita and escort him to the Wichita airport so that he could be on time for his flight to Syracuse.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE....no legacy coaches !!If JB stays 2 more years to get us through the sanctions, what about then getting Jason Hart? Maybe they have cooked this all up together. Hop will give Hart the experience at UW to then come to SU as the head coach.

Smart and tough. Marshall is the real deal. He has done about all anybody can at Wichita. But at Syracuse? A coach like that can be at least as good as Boeheim.Greg Marshall is a great fit. Finally we would have teams that won't be out rebounded. His teams are tough as nails.
SU better give Tony Bennett a blank check. The future depend so on it.
So apparently Pete Thamel out of the loop on this. Good.
Bring offense back to the Dome, hire 1st African American basketball HC @ SU, sounds like Babers model? Shaka?
Anything is possible but given SU's operating history GMac would be a potential candidate as JB's replacement. I guess he'd have to assess that possibility and if he thought he had a real chance then he'd be crazy to leave. If no shot then he'd be smart to move to UW. I guess if he stays at SU then that might be telling.
This would be about the worst choice possible. Seriously.
Do you think there is a chance that Coach Boeheim's wife and kids might read this board?Actually, I think Pete Thamel was on target - JB doesn't want to leave, so Hop said "How long am I supposed to wait for?" I have a sense this has been building up between them, and may provide an explanation for why Hop hasn't been recruiting too hard - he's given up waiting for the old man to die.

And Anthoby Grant won almost exactly the % of games at VCU that Smart did, leaving Smart a big winning program. Grant then failed at Alabama.Shaka has bombed so far at Texas with all the money and facilities in the world at his disposal.
Let's get another JB in John Beilein. Can actually beat Pitino and knows Syracuse thanks to his experience at LeMoyne.
It's a lateral move if anything. He has no reason to come here.
Even if it were a lateral move, which I disagree with, it'd give him a natural opportunity to hire on his son as an assistant coach and help set up his career.
It's not a lateral move. Syracuse basketball's the better job for multiple reasons.
