It's worse than you think - we got rid of our cable a while ago.You need to get another tv. I have two in my kitchen alone.
What would have gotten us in the ACC the first time was our perception of being strong in Football, and Basketball. As I pointed out some time ago, from 1987-2003 only 16 schools ended in the top 25 in football more then we did. In 17 years, Florida St-17, Michigan-17, Miami-16, Nebraska-16, Tennessee-14, Florida-13, Notre Dame-12, Auburn-11, Georgia-11, Texas A & M-11, Penn St-11, Colorado-10, Kansas St-10, Ohio St-10, Alabama-10 Texas-10, Oklahoma-9, Syracuse-9, everyone else had 8 or less. There were 4 schools at 8 USC, Washington, Clemson, Virginia Tech. With Scott I expect us to get back to that kind of status, we've been there, we can get back there again. We weren't in a real football conference back then just a hybrid, the recruiting now can go the entire Midwest, and all along the East Coast. My point in all of this is having a strategy in place to survive the next major round in conference realignment should there be one near when the ACC media deal is done. I would hope that investments are made to enhance the football brand. If we continue to rely on just basketball and not build the football brand, assuming it comes down to 4 16 team conferences, will we be included?
Why not be strong in both and make investments, just like we did with the Melo center for basketball, in the football facilities and brand building to increase attendance to be a strong contender in the final end game if it comes down to that?
Personally I just don't see any real vision yet but a step in the right direction is in building the IPF. It's pretty quiet over there so I have no idea if the IPF is happening or if it is just on hold until the spring.
I've heard lots about your president not very good things either. I am married and have a 2 year old boy. Obviously if you have plans with your kids you go to neither and do something with them. You make it sound like every fan needs to attend the bowl game or turn your fan card in. I take it you are not married and if you are you dont have kids. Attending a bowl game in december with active kids is literally impossible. Throw in peoples jobs (mine being one of them) where its impossible to travel in the month of december (mostly because of our stuffbag president and his awful health care law but thats for another topic) and traveling to a bowl game even in nyc isnt happening. I havent even mention cost which for some people is also an issue.
Going to a 2 and a half hour basketball game is doable. Giving up an entire day based on what i mentioned for some people is hard. It has nothing to do with what is more important. Something your posts are missing. You make is sound like i walk out of my house and i am on the 50 yard line of the bowl game
No one outside of, or for that matter INSIDE of, Syracuse will care about this Bowl game. I am with the others, Nova is a no brainer to attend. We have done the NYC thing too many times for it to be "cool" at this point.
So after all this...Notre Dame is going.
NDI think we need to start another thread. Im mad now this one may die.
