FWIW, strong possibility of PINSTRIPE Bowl

This thread is dumb, go to the nova game or a hypothetical bowl game. Just goto the game that best fits your tine, budget, needs, etc. bottom line just support SU!!! Whether it's football, basketball or field hockey. That's all that matters.
There it is.

We (basketball fans) aren't naive. Everyone has their preference. No need to get your panties in a bunch about it

I don't recall saying anyone was naïve and I don't wear panties, exclusively boxers...unless...nvm.

This thread is insane. I love SU football and basketball. If I have to make a choice it will be the Pinstripe but it will suck to miss the Nova game and I will be following the Nova game all day on my phone. I think what's missing in this thread is an acknowledgement of how awesome it is to be a fan of a college sports program that gives us so much that we actually have to make these types of choices (bowl game versus home BB game of 2 top 10 teams). It is good to be Orange.

Folks, let's not fight over this. There are good reasons for both arguments. As long as your missing an SU bowl game because of an SU bball game, and not raking leaves or re-stacking your spice cabinet, it's perfectly fine. I don't want to see this thread get nuked.

Eh, I don't like it but we'd still draw more to pinstripe than Shreveport or maybe even Detroit...even though it'd be a bunch less than the last two times. I get the logic and an opponent like Rutgers would mitigate our small turnout a bit.
Sure we will but it will look horrible compared to the last two bowls. I have no faith with the NYC area fans to show up when a big hoops game is on at nearly the same time. Remember we have nearly 30k Upstate NY fans committed to the Nova game.

Ask to go to Dallas, Shreveport or St Pete (if some deal can be made). We rep the best at St. Pete, Dallas and Shreveport in that order. Fan turnout will be no worse than some other P5 teams.

Holy moly. This thread is ridic. Are people really trying to tell others they love one sport more than the other based upon which game they might attend? It's not even apples to apples. One might attend the bball game because of cost, or convenience or other commitments. Some people at view the bowl as having a big significance other than it's a reward the team for a good season. Others may view the bball game as just a meaningless December game.

What is the difference between this ridiculousness and the ridiculousness of people on here getting mad if other people don't show up to SU Football games? To each their own.

This thread needs to be closed. It's essentially meaningless.

LGO! Hoops, football...and lacrosse.

Couldn't agree more. It's ridiculous. We're all SU fans. I hope anyway. I think the whole thread is pretty embarassing. As I said, let's get 30k for Villanova, 25k in NYC (should we have to play there again), win both games, and get blindingly drunk on a holiday season Saturday.

Good.

Lord.

Not sure if this hasn't been said 1.7 trillion times in Conference Expansion but "Football Drives The Bus".

Anyone who would debate the popularity of college football vs. college basketball is insane. There is a reason that Football drove expansion and there is a reason that those TV contracts are $20 mil plus for the Big 5 conferences and the reason is not basketball.
Yet which is more popular is completely irrelevant! I realize you didn't bring it up, CuseOnly.

It is pretty nice to have something to pitch recruits especially when you are behind in recruiting. I think that is the most important thing along with the national exposure the Pinstripe Bowl brings to SU. Along with being one of the highest payouts for the minor bowls.

All are extremely important if Football wants to take another step forward.
True but also irrelevant to my choice of which to attend.

You guys missed the point. No one out of syracuse will care..ive said it once and I will say it again the NCAA is football other than like 3 basketball teams. Let me know once march gets here and than i might care. I get it there both ranked teams but it is a bowl game guysss!!!!!

No one outside of, or for that matter INSIDE of, Syracuse will care about this Bowl game. I am with the others, Nova is a no brainer to attend. We have done the NYC thing too many times for it to be "cool" at this point.

And I would guess the Pinstripe would say they have done the Syracuse thing too many times recently too.

How can you possibly say this? Incomprehensible, to me. Coming out of the FB wastelands as we have been, to say no one will care about this? :bang:

No one inside Syracuse will care? Well this says all i need to know about this fanbase if you really believe this to be true. Some people don't get it I guess. Oh well.

Says more about TBCuse11 than it does about the fanbase in general, IMO.

Luckily for me, your opinion of me means absolutely nothing. This is a basketball town, and always will be. So yes, the majority of SU fans will choose to go see two top 10 ranked teams play on a huge stage n CBS. The bowl game will be played in front of 60% empty stands and with very little riding on it (actually nothing riding on it).

This in NO way makes u a better fan. i have had season tix in both sports for many years. ive been all over the place for Cuse road games for football... but you are dillusional if you think people would choose Pinstripe over Nova. Sorry.

Though it may not be a popular bowl for fans, I would choose the bowl game over the Villanova hoops game and I grew up on SU hoops...from Manley to the dome. So, I can say for sure that there are some that will.
