JB and Syracuse have paid the price. For much smaller infractions. Programs like all the blue bloods, as well as Arizona, LSU and Louisville have paid no price for major infractions.

Not entirely true for L'ville. They are the 1st team ever to have a NC vacated; along with 123 wins vacated, Pitino was suspended then fired by the university (along with AD and some Acs), tournament ban, some type of undisclosed monetary fine. But I agree, SU's scholarship and recruiting penalties were more severe and damaging.

The penalties from the FBI investigation are yet to come...

If we lose Ducharme, it's probably because it's unclear who will coach. Maybe NIL opportunities, but for a guy like Ducharme (very good, but not 5 star elite clear future first rounder) it's probably more about coaching.

Due to coaching uncertainty, 2023 and 2024 classes will be really difficult. Luckily we don't need a ton, given the 6-man freshmen class plus a red-short sophomore transfer and availability of the transfer portal. With that said, Ducharme would be a great pick-up.

Early in his recruiting, I thought we had no chance being that his sister plays at UConn and everything he said about UConn made it seem like that's where he wanted to go. Somewhere along the line it seems like Con lost interest or may have picked up recruits at his position who committed and we were the best offer he had.

Now with these 30 plus point games, he could shoot up the rankings or get the attention of the big boys who tend to come in at the last minute and negate all the time and work we put in. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out.

Definitely possible. We aren't involved with a large number of prospects, and we brought in 7 last year.

We'll have"only" Torrence, Edwards and Girard to replace in the next cycle. Arguably, we have already done that with Hima, Carey, Copeland, Taylor and Mintz.

Carey and Copeland will have virtual redshirt years this year anyway.

For a little class balance, it might make sense to take two high school recruits anda transfer next year.

One thing can consider about Xavier and Penn State is if they have so much open playing time available for Ducharme, it stands to reason that they are not particularly deep and will not have good players for him to practice against. For most freshman practice is more important than the games particularly a low four-star who nobody projects to be a one and done. If Ducharme is surrounded by smart people like his parents and coaches this should be something for him to strongly consider and may actually push him towards Syracuse.
