Game 1 Depth Chart / Game Notes vs Ohio

Is Adams missing because he had a limited camp or do he and Howard have something extra to do to earn a spot in front of Lutz? Has Lutz improved that much?
That’s the case.

I was hoping a depth chart or week 1 presser would get me fired up for the season.
Still feeling pretty meh overall, how we play week one will show me a lot about how I'll feel about this season.
Not sure how much I'm willing to invest in this one tbh.
The negativity on the board sure doesn't help so I've been trying to avoid it haha.
Anyway hope we crush it week 1!

Let me help

Sean Tucker. New OL coach. A QB room with more than 1 guy. A young DC who is the real deal. Super seniors.

Revenge against Liberty. Shadys return to the dome. Constant underdogs. “They didn’t know it’s not their fault” LGOOOOOO

I feel the same and the Cali predictions are showing the board’s split down the middle on real expectations for this season.

People are relying on our D and Run game to anchor us. Very few predictions suggest a breakout or even full season for TD.

I’d say the board temperature right now is more “I’m ready to be hurt again” than “we may have something here”.

I’ll either be saving space on the bandwagon or all alone up there puking over the side as we fire Dino lol

I think 6 wins is very attainable. In 2019 the team went 5-7 and the offense was very bad. And the defense gave up more points in two games then ever before. Hell if that Pitt fumble recovery was called correctly in the dome it’s prob a 6-6 team. So I don’t think it’s crazy to think this team can’t be as good as the 2019 team or slightly better.

Deeper oline, deeper qb room, I’ll say RB room is a push. I’m higher on more Neal than most maybe, wr group is deeper idk about better (Tristan was pretty damn good). Defense arguably had more talent in 2019 on the line and in the db’s but I think most of us agree ward was not getting it done.
2019 seemed like a failure of a year and 5-7 isn’t good by any means but it’s hard to believe that the 2021 squad can’t be better than the 2019 team.

You can look at it two ways.

Glass half full: In 11 days, 8 hours from right now, we know we're going to start out 3-0 with a ranked Liberty team coming to the Dome on a Friday night.

Glass half empty: in 11 days, 8 hours (or even 4 days, 13 hours), we know we're not starting 3-0 and we're almost certainly looking at another long season.

The good news in all of it is you don't have to wait that long.

Orange wave.. all orange.. big orange.. our orange.. WHO'S HOUSE?

Did't the fan fest reports indicate the punting was not good?
I believe that punting and kickoffs are going to be a potential problem this year

Tucker yeah he has me a little fired up as does our depth at RB.
Love the new OL coach but why didn't we address this position a few years ago? Big mistake imo.
Young D should be zipping all over the field and I'm in love with the 3-3-5 for a long time.
Sure this all helps but I think it's the concept that if it's a poop show we are starting over.
That 10 win season but a taste back for success and after the beatings the last two years where we are pointing to another rebuild...

I agree, I just let all the board negativity get to me last season and was hoping the Lacrosse season would help bring back some energy, boy was that a mistake lol.

OL has been a disaster other than 1 maybe 2 years. Cav wasnt the answer. Hopefully now that we have a solid coach we will see improvement.

My biggest concern is Gilbert. Does he have the chops to call winning games. Does Dino let him coach ? How much of a drop off will special teams be this year.

special teams can kill the whole vibe of the team if it goes poorly.. just complete the snaps and get punts and kicks away without getting blocked. Lets see how Rutgers goes.

The Bobcats can score points. They have averaged 34.8 ppg over the last 5 years. We better not fall behind!

For me. this game is all about how good Bobcat Sophomore QB Kurtis Rourke is. Due to their 3-game season last year he is more like a true Freshmen. The 3 star Canadian is 6'4 and 200 lbs. He isn't mobile and they didn't ask him to rush last year - 14 attempts for 17 yards (had nine sacks for a loss of 50 yards that diminished his numbers). Pretty good arm though as he was completed 30 of 44 for 68%. Three TDs and no interceptions. Totaled 386 or 8.8 yards per attempt.

He will be playing behind a very experienced OLine and will have two RS Seniors to throw to.

I doubt he has ever seen the 3-3-5 so how he handles it will probably determine the outcome. Of course, if our offense is better than we think who knows.
LGO!
