Gerry Staff Predictions…

Devo and AO would be the only SU guys I’d want on staff. If you look at peer programs, we should be adding at least 2 more full time assistants than we had last year (not including Pete C) if we want to be competitive. Many have 5 or 6 total. Gmac would also be wise to hire a young offensive mastermind who knows how to design a modern, fast paced offensive system using analytics and lots of motion.

The board is in denial that we are at a recruiting disadvantage in the ACC. To be clear, we had no choice. Sometimes reality bites and there are no good options.

If a player is offered by Duke or N Carolina we cannot compete. In the BE we could compete with anyone.
We need to get to the point where we can get the top kids from the Northeast. There are still almost always two or three Northeast schools in the top-25. We need to win recruiting battles with the St. Johns, Villanova, Providences, etc of the world more often than not.

Jason Hart hired by SMU. Speaking of recruiting challenges

And the thing is, it shouldn't be that difficult. There are some really great offensive teams in CBB and the NBA that you can look at what they are doing to emulate. You don't have to reinvent the wheel but you do need to get the right horses.

It can't be a square peg/round hole thing. Red never had the right horses to do anything right.
