Gerry Staff Predictions…

With all due respect, this should be nonsense. Should is the key word, I don’t know if you have inside info on this that it’s UConn or speculating that UConn is the competition. As crazy as it sounds on the surface, the conditions should be perfect right now to get a guy like Chillious over UConn. I would expect UConn to quietly shift to building football and try to maintain their level of basketball by relying on experience of the current staff they have. I would actually be more concerned about BC in a particular situation like this.
No inside info at all.

Chillious was the interim head coach at UConn when Ollie got fired. When Hurley was hired, he didn't retain anybody from Ollie's staff, including Chillious. Why would Chillious go back to work for Hurley now?
was just going to ask this

Tie you horse to a guy who is in his 3rd FF in 4 years and going for his 3rd NCAA title

If the position and the money was the same I feel it's a no brainer to go to Storrs

Then again who knows what his next 5 year goals are

Winning aside, why in the world would anybody want to work on Hurley’s staff? Don’t say money because the UCON athletic department is under water.

He likes working for tweaked out morons?
A tweaked out moron who can coach his a$$ off and gets kids who love to play for him.

A lot of guys that actually know Hurley and don’t just see him on social media would run threw a brick wall for him.

Question that I should know the answer, but I don’t or don’t recall. When the NCAA allowed for additional coaches, what is the total now for actual coaches? Is it now five. Plus the GM plus basketball operations, etc.
Arizona has full 6 assistants, plus a GM (President), a Director of Player Relations, a DOBO, a creative director, performance enhancement (strength and conditioning). Is there even a limit on assistants? If there is, it’s probably 6, and Arizona is at the max.

If he goes to UConn and they continue to be successful, then he doesn't really get any credit for that's. Just riding Hurley. But you come to Syracuse and bring us back to relevance and beyond, and he's looking a lot better.

Just another way to think of it.

While I appreciate the youthful staff, I think it would be a mistake not to have at least one guy who has some years of HC experience before if there is a good fit. While certainly JB will be a resource, I think having that older experience on the bench during games and in huddles and at practice would be a benefit. Not sure who that guy is but I think it would benefit GMac if he had that "experience " on his staff.

Tbh I think the experience coach is highly overrated

Gerry addressed this in his press conference yesterday, with the reporters. He referenced the experienced coach he had on his staff at Siena -- a guy with decades of experience at the D2 level. And he talked about how valuable that was, as he was getting his feet wet. Learning what happens when you make a coaching mistake at the end of a game... how to handle all the firsts, like losing on a buzzer beater, etc.

But he said that once you get some of those things out of the way, once you have those experiences under your belt, that having that sounding board isn't as important.

Sounds like he had that guy, and used it to get through the first two years, but now feels like he's got it. Just my read, based upon his comments.

Interesting. Thanks for sharing.

Was about to post the same. It’s not also really something you want with a coach who’s already cut his teeth. As in Red should have brought someone on and didn’t where Gerry was smart to make that addition at Siena. Now it would just be a bit odd to go that route.

Luke Murray just got an ACC HC job

I don’t think anyone looks at assistant coaches as riding coattails

He’s been a hired gun most of his career. If he’s only going to put 2 years in somewhere and move on, i don’t know if we’re the right fit for him

We’ll see

Europe, Europe, Europe, develop a pipeline - that is all.
The Euros we have had for a full four years have been ecxellent. Kristof for the old school, Dolezaj more recently. If i’m missing anyone, chime in
