Gottlieb

Gottlieb is a tool! I don't mind when he formulates reasonable opinions about college basketball teams but he absolutely is steadfast in denial of giving SU due credit. He's forced, on occasion, to recognize individual players or specific plays and offer praise through gritted teeth. But last night during ESPN’s Bracketology program, yet another example of Gottlieb’s ignorance, Lunardi used statistics and ratings to demonstrate that SU is and would be "by far" the overall #1 seed if the Orange and UK were both to win-out. Gottlieb was only willing to concede that SU should be a #1 seed, but 3rd overall behind UK and OSU. There's plenty of support for a reasonable argument that UK could edge out Syracuse for the overall #1. But OSU? Not a chance. Gottlieb is an ass, plain and simple. If SU were to beat both OSU and UK en route to a National Championship, Gottlieb would then argue that UNC is the best team in America despite statistics, performance and the analysis of his peers.

LOL. Was I making up my original post? Speaking of polyannas...

It's a sad indictment of the Syracuse fan base that we have to whine about a guy giving us "only" the 3rd overall number one seed. DISRESPECT.

BTW, the top overall seed is such a useless achievement. Would it interest you to know that since they started ranking the number one seeds in 2004, the top overall seed has lost in the second round more than it has won the title? If the two are separate, I would prefer being seeded #1 in the EAST. Even if it meant we were ONLY the last #1 seed.

Bilas has repeatedly uttered this season that the 'Cuse's struggles in their half court offense keeps them from being an elite team, still very good, but not elite. I think most objective fans would agree with that comment, whether one wants to label it negative or just reality is one's choice based on one's own thinking.

If so I think Bilas is wrong about this.
I agree our shooting percentages may not be top tier but how we get our baskets is. When Melo is in the game Him and our power forward both become our 4th and 5th scorers on the floor. And they bring tough not just intimidating but imposing transition halfcourt offense.

We have a serious 5 man punch on the floor together of guys who can bring double digits any given night easily. There is nobody you can double. I know the 2010 team had something similar but we are much more balenced then the 2010 team in this reguard.

Scoop just jumped to a new level right before Melo had to sit. We got about 25 percent better when he did.
We just tore apart St Johns with our ball movement. It wasn't even funny.

KJO is turning up again good to see. He hasn't done that in quite a while. And IMO Triche when he utilizes more of the floor earlier on is much better which he didn't do against St Johns. Melo brough the return of Fair and Dion. And that MCW guy and Rak are stepping it up as of late.

Our second team has been lead by Dion and CJ and Southerland. They have put up more points then our starters at points this year. Then we went through a stretch without Melo when three of our starters scored half of points almost literally. Now We are settling into the best of both worlds.
Its is hinting to a point where someone like Triche Scoop or Melo will get pulled early on after playing awesome. And people will ask Why. The reason is we are not only that deep but also that good.

Only flaw I could see is Dion and CJ both coming off the bench. They work off Melo and if Melo gets his first personal when they come in that makes things tougher. Then again Rak and Melo on the defensive end is fun to watch :).

Our 4th and 5th men are probably better in the Melo lineup then any team in the country.
