I try to avoid the nostalgia trip, but I always find it hard during the Big East Tournament. Tonight's final four is Syracuse vs. Cincinnati, and Louisville vs. Notre Dame. Syracuse is the only original Big East team (not to mention a team actually from the East) of the four and they'll be bolting the conference for the ACC. Back in the day, when I was announcing Big East games in the 80s, the semi-finalists would often be Syracuse, Georgetown, St. John's and Villanova. Pearl, Ewing, Mullin, Pinckney. How can you not think of that as the "Good Old Days?"

The Big East semifinals: Syracuse-Cincy, ND-Louisville. Not exactly what it used to be, is it? Syracuse is leaving soon too. I bet you can’t wait for that Memphis-DePaul Big East final in a few years. Conference basketball as we knew is over.

7:00pm Cincinnati vs. Syracuse - Cincinnati is coming off an OT win over (my) Georgetown and may be feeling pretty good about themselves. Syracuse, coming off a win over a red hot UConn team, is probably feeling the same way. So who would win this battle? The Orange beat the Huskies with Kris Joseph scoring 11 points on 1-of-8 shooting from the floor. I expect that Joseph doesn't want to end his college career without a Big East title. Look for him to assert himself early on offense. If he does, it will be a long game for Cincy.
