Great defensive coordinator, bad head coach

You dream, unless he makes major changes on the offensive end. I hope he makes those changes and the team goes 8-3( more would be just too much to hope for).
so we are skipping 1 game next year?

Maryland game was a good offensive game outside of pick 6

Well, I guess there is 1 game we can hang our hat on. Good win... oh wait, that was a loss.

Good by what standards? We still didn't score points comparable to even an average team.

What kind of goofball would pull Austin Wilson out as he really started moving the ball , into the redzone , and put in a QB who has never seen the field before? the only thought I had at that point was , " This is what a loser would do , or someone intentionally trying to lower expectations'.
You do know that Wilson had been injured right?

589 yards in a game is a good offensive day no matter the points

Not at that point in the game.
Before Kimble came into the game, yes Wilson was hurt. Not sure when else you could be talking about, but whatever.

Does the 4th string qb explain why we can't make it through a half of football without burning all of our timeouts??? Does it explain the moronic play calling???

What good is it to save timeouts? You can't carry them over. I didn't have any problem with time management today.

Not in the football world I know. That many yards without scoring is just so much wasted motion.

People can rationalize all they want, but Shafer will never, ever win more than 5 games a season. So if you want to go through a 2-10 or 3-9 season next year under this regime to prove the point, which is absolutely certain to happen, so be it. In the process SU football is going to be killed for a generation.

Absolutely certain to happen? Really? Some of you folks are just nutty.

Because other football teams don't have injuries. If this was basketball, I'd be with you, but not CFB.

3 things..

We need better depth

Less fragile players

Better S&C

Teams that are poorly coached and constantly overmatched rack up injuries. That's this team.
Say what you want to about Shafer's coaching decisions, but S&C? Injuries are part of the game. They happen to all teams. Our recruiting hasn't been the greatest other than the last couple years. Under the radar guys. Our injuries this year are purely bad luck. They happen. If Will Hicks is not a good S&C coach, why does Dwight Freeney come back to SU every summer to train with him. I think I will trust Dwight and stick with Coach Hicks and his experience.

I love this full on melt down by people while half the team was in an ambulance and we were running a 4th string quarterback. Jesus christ, sometimes you get the bad cards and it doesn't matter what you do you still end up with a losing hand.

This was the second possession of the game . Wilson was not hurt , but whatever.

Shaf needs to calm down. I am afraid he might pull a Woody Hayes - on a referee. He does not seem to handle pressure very well and that concerns me. Hard to be a HC and be that volatile.
Steve Addazio is doing pretty good with the same type of personality.

I also think part of injuries are the result of playing on field turf vs natural grass specifically the lower body injuries along with the horrible job by acc putting the schedule together, i'm sure if we are allowed 1 request we will request a bye week closer to the end of October than the beginning

In the first quarter? I must have totally missed him coming in the game at that point, guess I will have to check the tapes. LOL

Oh I do remember, and I've been following SU since 1969 and a season tkt holder for the last 10 years. Shafer is in way, way over his head.

kimble came in when we entered redzone and I think threw a fade to kustis on 3nd down that looked like pi but no call

You do know that most teams have field turf fields now, yet we seem to be having more injuries than the average of those teams. How would you explain that?

Did you forget that 7 is greater than 5 or were you in a coma last year?

Strange that Kimble would come in for a fade as everyone says that is not his strength, but is Wilson's. Not saying it did not happen just find that inexplicable. Perhaps another coaching decision that is hard to fathom.

Right . Wilson would have made that throw. High up and floating that only a 6'6" basketball player/tightend could have come down with. Mitch rifled it , not the called for technique. I guess the staff feels it more important to audition the new offense for prospects than to win a game against a top 25 team and stay bowl eligible , which is the only realistic goal anyhow.
