Hey, 2-3zone...

Once again I grew up in CNY, graduated from SU, live in NYC and still have season tickets BUT

I live in the real world and some of the stuff you see on this board is out of control pro SU.

I will list you a few things from just the past couple of years that really annoy me that I have seen on this board
1.) Kaleb Joseph will be better than Tyler Ennis (That crowd went into hiding this season)
2.) "He's not ready" The SU fan base has a major problem with guys leaving early unlike almost every other school
3.) Blame the NCAA for tough sanctions (How about don't cheat)
4.) This recruit and that recruit will do this and do that next year (As JB once said "He has never made one play in college BB")
5.) "We will be great next year" Today a poster says we will be a 4/5 seed next year but fails to mention that it would take 25 wins to get to that after losing our best player and with a Center coming off Microfracture surgery and not having our coach for half the ACC schedule

I look at the positive and negative and will comment on both but I WILL NEVER BE A PRO SU GUY EVEN WHEN ITS WRONG
Let's Go Orange!

I think he needs a "time out", cto.

And I use that term advisedly.
I don't know. This us against him is kind of fun, as long as you don't take it too seriously. Lets the fans build their cases for discussions with the nae-sayers they meet up with. I hear outrageous comments often. Sometimes, like those from 2-3, they are so outrageous that it is hard to respond intelligently. This way I can see the good responses from those on the board and frame my own.

Wait are we allowed to call out other posters, or is that a mod thing?

Asking for a friend.
I didn't call him a name or use a derogatory adjective; I didn't use a "bad" word. Anyone here could have posted exactly what I did. In fact, there are posts like that within threads every day.

Fair enough, I was under the impression that starting threads for the sole purpose of calling out posters (regardless of what words are used) was frowned upon. My mistake.

I'll do one more bet for 100 with BK76 since we was second to reply. Quote to book. I have Cuse missing you have them making. Wish I had more money.

Also I bet if I made this exact thread about a mod that I would be banned. I have no problem with posters calling out each other and feel like it is actually necessary when people go too far. But it should be allowed for all posters involved and we know some are more equal than others.

Enlighten me, if you would, as to how this thread isn't intended to target an individual poster for a volume of undue criticism merely because he/she has a style that grates on some people. This is nothing short of mod-sanctioned piling on. Not using a "bad word" or a derogatory reference doesn't excuse the fact that a thread was created by a mod targeting a particular poster. Exactly how does that advance the cause of civil discourse here? Short answer...it doesn't. So 2/3 isn't a homer? So what, neither was Igor and I don't remember an entire thread created by a mod exclusively to target him.

Just remind me to give you my paypal info next March. Look forward to the free night out.

These bets sound pretty much like an even money proposition. On the one hand, SU has some veteran leadership coming back in G and Cooney plus I am personally very high on Roberson. But the PG and C positions are very unsettled with little depth. If Joseph improves quite a bit and Coleman can stay healthy then a bid seems very likely. If neither of these happens then a bid seems rather unlikely. I don't see any of the freshmen being the solution to either the C or PG issues.

You are underselling Diagne's capabilities.

Could be. I think people are over-selling Richardson's capabilities. It's a lot to ask a freshman to come into the ACC and be a productive player in the pivot. If he's asked to do it on a part-time basis cuz DC is getting it done then yeah, no worries. If he's asked to be the man cuz DC's knees don't hold up, then Houston, we have a problem.

Whatever. I started this forum more than 15 years ago... and have given (literally) more than 15 years of my life to helping to run it and keep it reasonably sane. Anyone who does not like the way it is run (by Bees, Jake, Tomcat, Cherie, OrangeXtreme, Orange 79, Bayside, Bill Orange, Cuse Legacy, me, etc) doesn't have to read/post here. We are not holding anyone captive.

I think it was more "suggestion box" material than laying a resignation on the boss' desk. You and the mods do a fantastic job running this forum, and I think I can speak for the entire board when I say that we value all of the hard work.

In my own opinion, creating a thread to call out a specific poster seemed harsh. No, it does not make it fact. Simply wanted to share a perspective. Perhaps I am just the sensitive type :noidea:

That is no defense for initiating a thread targeting an individual poster and using the word "poisoning" to describe his posts. It's a defense for "this is how I make my 4's and if you don't like it you don't have to read them."

A simple adult "mea culpa" would do just fine here for someone who has honorably made it a cause celebre to advocate regularly and openly on this forum for civil discourse. Does "agree to disagree" without being disagreeable ring a bell? I hope so.

My post got 38 "likes." That suggests it resonated with a fair number of people. I am as much entitled to my opinion as is anyone else here. Being an admin does not bar me from having an opinion. Being an admin does not make one a eunuch

The point has nothing to do with "likes" nor your right to an opinion. What's next.."we live in a free country and I can say what I want?" Piling on by definition draws "likes." That doesn't make it right, it makes it small-minded. This has to do with fairness to all posters. Your justifications are flimsy and what you did was patently unfair and unwarranted. Owing to your position as a founder and a mod alone, 2-3 deserves an apology from you.

Try moderating this place 24-7... i.e., mucking out the stable 24-7. You might have a different opinion. Most posters don't see 1/20 of the crap the mods have to deal with here. And that is probably just as well.

I just had some home made meatloaf I made. Mmmm. With mashed potatoes, gravy and corn. Yum.

I'm a mod, so take what I say with a grain of salt. If a poster is going to say the same thing over and over in different threads, in a hyper-negative manner, I personally consider that trolling. And trolling has no place on this board. It never will. If 2-3zone wants to find a way to express his/her opinion in a more reasonable manner, all is good. If it takes a post like cto's to teach that lesson (the poster in question has been around for enough time to learn what constitutes acceptable behavior here), then so be it. Heck, I probably deserve a post calling me out for all the snarky, stupid, supposedly-and-usually-not-so funny posts I make.

I don't think anything done here was small-minded. And certainly nothing done was unfair. It's an internet board. Just my opinion.
