Boeheim apparently never saw the “Seinfeld” episode when Jerry schooled George on how to leave the room on top.
I love that you used “shambles”. It’s one of my favorite words. No spin here. Just waiting for the goods. The progam is in Shambles no matter how you spin it
WHAT ABOUT CCNY?!?!Wow... good point. I shall reconsider.
This reflects what I think of is the “SU Fan new coach fantasy”.
That’s the fantasy some have in their minds of a replacement riding in on a white stallion and bringing back the glory days. Money is no object, in this fantasy. Spotty records of ethical behavior will be ignored, if necessary.
Just put the Help Wanted sign out and all the top young coaches will line up to interview.
Delusional!
It will get worse as long as Jim stays. He is in an extremely difficult situation. Recruiting isnt going to improve. Its not terrible but Jims days of landing top talent left when Hop left.
The program is in serious decline. Simply put its stale and its not going to improve. We have become irrelevant. Hopefully Jim recognizes the situation and steps down after the season.
Like the once mighty Indiana?
You are seriously deranged.Because we’re bound to hire someone better? A savior!
SU fan fantasy syndrome strikes again.
I think the next coach, whoever it may be, will win more than one or two tourney games in their first five years.
We’ll scramble along at the middle or bottom of the ACC. Things won’t change much. Challenging the top teams is not in the cards. That’s a fantasy.

You are comparing the literal worst owner in the nfl to su leadership. What evidence helps you draw that conclusion?Daniel Snyder, the Redskins owner, just hired his 9th coach.
I’d say those with SU fan fantasy syndrome are the ones that are deranged.
So should we be thinking about moving hoops to the A-10 maybe the Patriot league? I mean the AAC probably won't even want us once JB is gone.
We do have a brand and investment in the program. That immediately becomes attractive to a coach. Our guy fell off his stallion when his young co-pilot went west. It will take a couple years but if you honestly think it never returns to glory then JB really hasn't been as much to the program as you think. In that case then he is the Brand not SU and that sours his own legacy.
This narrative is completely skewed and misguided.
They offered scholarships. They didn’t and wouldn’t have played the kid 35 minutes per game.
...
The program is just a sad, depressing shell of its former self—it’s been a slow but steady bleed. Recruits don’t seem to want to play for JB anymore. The head coach doesn’t inspire his players and lacks creativity in offensive scheming, and the assistant coaches seem like they’re sleepwalking and afraid to challenge the old man’s atrophied thinking. There’s no reason we should have lost an 11 point lead tonight. Meanwhile, when Buzz departed Va Tech after the season, he left the cupboard bare. They had a grand total of four guys left on the roster. And this new coach, Mike Young, who is no spring chicken either, was somehow able to keep Va Tech at least decent in his first season. What does that say about JB and his his ability to evaluate talent, recruit the best players, and evolve his thinking and his vision for the program? What’s happening to JB happened to Gene Keady at the end of his tenure at Purdue—and the university finally pulled the plug and set up a transition to Keady’s former player and assistant Matt Painter. We had the same thing set up at SU with Hopkins, but then it all fell apart. This is going to be a very long season.Recruiting has been abysmal for years and it’s not getting any better until he leaves. His son and the kid from Glenn’s Falls aren’t top tier D1 payers, we have no big man, and our best player is an eastern Europe who chain smokes.

But wait how didn’t Purdue spiral into disaster after Keady like what is going to happen to us after Boeheim according to Townie. Cause you know a good coach can never be hired as a replacement. The program is just a sad, depressing shell of its former self—it’s been a slow but steady bleed. I agree with everything you say. The first three points imo are why we are struggling now, which comes down to recruiting. I’m not sure that UNC and Cam and Gonzaga are the norm but rather the exception. I would have to see more data but there is obviously a ton of guys leaving early and we’ve not done well or had any luck in that department. This is a very constructive criticism. And essentially what it all boils down to.
Our players aren't even close to the level needed to be successful against Top 25 teams on a consistent basis.
Our center position has been abysmal for nearly 6 years and our point guard essentially the same level.
And when we do have talent, the vast majority leave before they're even ready. We have had numerous players jump ship to the NBA that weren't ready, but it's their decision so let's leave them to it.
That's all well and good, but take a look at the likes of UNC & Gonzaga. They regularly have players stay and live up to their potential -- and not bolt as soon as they have a chance. The kid Hachimura would have left after his sophomore season at SU, there's no doubt in my mind.
Cam Johnson played five collegiate seasons and yet was still selected No. 11 overall in the NBA Draft. Yet our kids can't wait to bolt just for a chance to go to the G-League. Why is this? Could it be only because the weather sucks in Syracuse? The weather ain't peachy all the time in Spokane, either.
How do you think we got to this sad state of affairs? Can you share with us why you don’t think JB is responsible for the slow but steady decline of his once proud top 10 program? I honestly want to hear your analysis for how we got here. It’ll get worse.

That’s not evidence to support your conclusion . Lacrosse was in the final four recently enough. Football has made improvements, despite this years setback. neither team is redskins badWhat is SU football’s record for the last 20 years?
What about the Lacrosse teams record of Final Four appearances?
Pretty sure it’s the same leadership that you think will lead us out of the basketball wilderness.
