While I am a big fan of Hunt's, I am struggling to determine how much he has improved so far this year vs last year.
Hunt has completed 58.4 % of his passes (12th in ACC) with 1 TD and 2 picks, including a pick 6 even though he has played against only 1 top pass defense and many of the attempts were short passes.
I realize we have not played any conference games but this is all we have to go on so far in 2014. Hunt is the 10th ranked passer in the ACC so far in 2014 and the 8th best rusher.I am not so sure this is good thing. Hunt is not a scrambler but rather he is a straight ahead zone read runner. If Hunt was a scrambler I would feel better about his stats. Scramblers are much harder to scheme against than zone read QBs.
If we are going to a bowl Hunt needs to take us there. He is 12th our of 16 ACC QBs in QB rating. It is hard to imagine a bowl in our future unless we are able to pick it up in the passing game. Further complicating things is that we are getting pretty banged up.
I guess it's gut check time.
