I am sure I will get killed for this

Chicken salad. He made a lot of it. Sustained drives. It just hasn't been the same without him.
And I know, constantly bringing dungey up and making comparisons isn’t fair (hell it’s been a few years time to get over it), and the guy wasn’t a HOF football god or anything (or was he....), but man... it just worked. And this gives me another chance to tell that idiot who thought I hated dungey because he’s an idiot that he’s an idiot (I actually forget who it was).

I didn’t start the thread for one. And two, if you like watching the team play like this with no accountability that’s on you. We are all big fans here and want what is best for Cuse. This isn’t it. Eric Dungey isn’t walking through that door.

The reality is we WILL be under .500 in four of Dino’s five years here.
If you don't think that Dino is the right guy to bring us back, then your eye test sucks.

The issues plaguing this team are depth / injury related, not systemic. And maybe -- just maybe -- Tommy isn't as good as his star rating suggested.

I still believe that this team could go 500, despite today's poor start. And had Corona virus not changed our schedule, that they would have had a 7+ win type of season and qualified for a bowl. And I expect next year to be an incremental improvement. I'm tired of all the knee-jerk b******* on this forum.

It's game 1. I can look at the extenuating circumstances here and admit I'm not pleased. But an offensive install takes more than one fall camp. Let's not panic.
The problem is that this is Dino's system. Doesn't matter who is calling plays. I love Dino's personality but not sure about his coaching ability at a P5 level. He has had some great wins like Clemson, then lost the next 5 games. Every lost like this is just soul crushing for fans as it is for players. The OL has issues but that is not the total cause of the offensive lack of production. At some point the coaches need to take on the blame. And yes, this means Dino.

That’s like saying Jimmy only has a title because of Carmelo. Lester bagged dungey and weaver snared Melo.

i will one hundred percent say the only reason Jimmy has a title is because of Carmelo. You’re insane if you think differently regardless of who got him and Jimmy will admit it too

Hmmmm, orange colored glasses with a bag full of wishes.

You can say the same for any great coach. Izzo doesn't have a title without cleaves. Dean Smith without Jordan. Etc etc etc.

Honest question... Does anyone see us being considerably better next year? What 'cruts do we have coming in that are game changers? By this point Devito is who he is. The line is going to lose some seniors. Do we call it rebuilding again next year? At some point we need to call a spade a spade and move on. Maybe I'm jaded because I just watched a HB dive on every single first play of the drive today. But this is where Wildhack is going to earn his paycheck. FB drives the bus, so do we make the change sooner or later.

A quarterback who can make plays, compete and lead the team would make a WORLD of a difference. 2018 personnel was not that much different than now otherwise.

2018 personnel was not much different??? Please, ED + recevers well seasoned?

We're going to lose a bunch of guys on defense but should return almost everyone on offense

Does Dino have two bowl wins? Nope. Marrone was far better as a preparer than Babers.

Let me ask you this—do you think or having confidence in Babers having a winning seasoN.Y. his year? I certainly don’t. The proof is in the body of work that we watch weekly.
Just pointing out the weakness of the argument you made. And no, Dino only has one. Happy?

I see a team beset with injuries and opt-outs, and had the schedule not been changed, a good start. Could recruiting be better? Sure. It can always be better. But if you think he's not a good coach, I don't know what to tell you.

Great post, which undoubtedly will follow up on deaf ears.

Our current wrs aren't a pimple on the bum of the 2018 crew, give me a break.

Can you please list what "you" think makes him a good coach? Just interested in what you see that others don't.

Dino is going nowhere at the end of this season. Nor should he. Next year is the year and the schedule will be much easier. There road schedule is absurd this year.

As much as I want him to be the guy, the more I watch games that he is QB, I realize he is not the guy.

He constantly slides and moves into pressure, his field vision and instincts are just not good.

Reminds me of Drew Henson who had all the physical tools, great arm, size etc. But had no feel for the game.

Ya know I'm a fan of yours but I gotta push back here. Depth/injuries have nothing to do with bad and sometimes bizarre playcalling, zero creativity in the redzone, continued undisciplined play and the horrid clock management. There's nothing knee jerk about these still being an issue in year 5.

You're gonna compare the Big East to the ACC?

No. But with all due respect, after Grob, SU was in the abyss, the Mariana's Trench of college football. What Marrone was able to pull off in his tenure was nothing short of miraculous in my opinion. It was also prior to SU finally making a financial commitment to upgrade their way outdated facilities, etc.. I recall how Marrone argued how badly SU needed an IPF to compete and keep up with the Joneses so to speak, and he was basically told someday, but not now, even though now was still way overdue.

SU was given the gift of a lifetime with the ACC invite, and with the financial winfall that came with it, SU finally started investing in the program. Better late than never...I can only imagine what Marrone's results may have been with this kind of commitment from his alma mater.

Not just Dougie; his staff was loaded with talented assistant coaches...

Oh, please. "Play calling" is what fans whine about when they mean "poor execution.".

Click management?!? That's what your takeaway from today's performance was?

Massive OL injuries, Tommy playing below his rating, and drops were the issue today. Period. The score was 6-7 midway through the third quarter, when we'd forced three turnovers. Let's discuss why that was the case, instead of clock management.

"Others", meaning you and Frank?

I see a coach who kids want to play for. I see a coach who has pulled in some recruits other coaches at SU wouldn't have been able to. I see a coach who handed the defending national champions their only regular season loss. I see a coach who has won in the past with this system. Is P5 different? Sure. But given his past, I have no doubt he can be successful here. I'm not an X's and O's guy, so I can't get into that aspect. But to me, he passes the eye-test.

No. He was a good HC and he had ok assistants.

He bailed on the team at a bad spot, right before we joined the ACC.

Dino and Marrone are very comparable IMO

We’ve played one game we don’t even know if we’re bad yet. We were a blown up punter and whiffed touchdown pass away from being in control of the game against a ranked team today.

Let’s maybe wait until we play a home game to punt on the season
