Given all the pressure out there.

I still don't think it's totally warranted but he did say things he shouldn't have said.

Also, kills 2 birds with one stone. Maybe it relieves some of the pressure, and it also gives us all an early look at Hop.

Will they have to bring Bernie back for those 5 games to be the interim head coach

Can't suspend him without admitting he was complicit...in something. He either knew, or he didn't. No middle ground.

If he knew the University knew. So they might as well suspend them to.

can't suspend him. It will only make the people who think he should be fired shout louder.

If he had known about the tape, think he would have called them liars? Would he have defended his friends of 35 years the way he did? As far as I am concerned JBs mouth got him in trouble cause he is so goddam high and mighty all the time. However that being the case, ESPN and the PS holding on to this tape was tantamount to a set up for old JB.

There is no reason to suspend him. Syracuse makes their pubic statement, JB apologizes, and everyone moves on except sportswriters that want to be inflammatory to boost readership for one 24-48 hour cycle. Anyone that doesn't get why JB did what he did is a moron.

He's not divorced from the situation, right or wrong, that's his friend. .

I don't think he should be suspended, I just have a feelin it might go down that way.

The suspension would be for what he said, not anything related to knowing or not knowing about Fine.

Again, I don't support the idea, I just think there's a good chance it happens.

I agree that its a lightning rod situation, and that's where the school and its world class PR firm 'ed up royally.

But I can't understand how or why the school has still not gone on the record to distance itself from and/or reprimand him for his comments.

That's what I wonder, did the University agree with his comments at the time?

I don't see where a suspension accomplishes anything here.

Neither do I. Taking the middle ground doesn't accomplish much. He's either terminated or retained at this point.

I guess it would be considered "punishment" for being insensitive with his remarks but yeah, it really doesn't accomplish anything and probably just cranks up the volumn on the calls for dismissal.

If they suspended him for 5 games...he'd quit.
