I ride with Dino...

Well if we had 1 win with zero covid, i'd be very worried NOW. I am willing to punt on this season and see how next season starts. With a proper offseason, spring game, let's see how Dino comes out of the blocks. I think that's reasonable.

Otherwise, a 1 win season would be a death sentence in normal times no?
Can't see them winning OOC against Ohio,Rutgers, Liberty. Maybe 1.

The W-L record really isn’t why the crap his hit the fan with Dino.
I like Dino.
The offense doesn’t even look FBS level quality that isn’t asking for a P5 level offense.

This team is all his players.
His failures in previous recruiting classes is why the roster on offense looks like this.
If there was reason for optimism I would be optimistic as I like Dino.

Our players don’t look like they are getting good coaching and prepared to play.

That is coaching.

We can’t afford to fire Dino this year but if we aren’t 6-6 next year you can’t keep a coach win one winning season in 6 years.

Perhaps, however, that doesn't change the contract buyout situation which apparently would still make that matter moot. I think your concerns are legit and were a crutch even without COVID being used as a convenient excuse.

Most programs would be looking at a coaching change right now, one bowl in 5 years, and a 1-10 season, not going to fly for 80% of the programs out there.

But you continue to ignore the contract extension under current economic times as well. Buyouts aren't magic. It's real $

Well they have to decide if they want to run a real football program, or just be happy to be along for the ride.

Glad you filed it. Don't know who would schedule an opening game on the road at Ohio, probably the strongest team in the MAC.
Ohio is at best a middle of the road team in the MAC.

Buffalo, Kent State, Toledo, Western Michigan, Ball State.

All better now.

It's still a pretty strange years regardless of how you look at it, anything but normal. Not saying the product hasn't stunk but there are a few reasons as well. It counts and yes looks bad for those in charge but far from standard operating procedure. I can see where people look at it a bit differently as opposed to pounding chest "IT COUNTS!!!!"

Next year will tell the FULL STORY and those who want Dino fired may get their wish it it stays this bad for sure. Hoping for a big turn around next year. Hate to start the crazy cycle again.
Agreed. Maybe it's best to call this an abnormal year. Certain leagues shut down, 108 canceled or rescheduled, most teams losing players and coaches to covid quarantine, etc. So yeah it counts but no one is going to look back on 2020 and call it a normal season. I mean in the Pros Denver just played a game with a wide receiver as QB. There is nothing normal about sports this year.

Buffalo plays Ohio this Saturday, we'll see the outcome. Frank Solich coaches Ohio and has since he had to leave Nebraska and Ohio has been, along with Toledo, the top of the MAC.

I'm attributing the coaching, or lack thereof, to installing new coaches who had zero time to implement and then focal guys (on a team with no depth) to opt out. I'm willing to give him a pass on both. TD going out early didn't help as well.

Let's see how 2021 starts out. If we're firing on all cylinders some of your concerns may be chalked up to a truncated season. If we are flat again and the system seems to be not working, then i go to my original point: John Wildhack will have his first major decision on his watch. The extension was a no brainer at the time. This will be a needle mover if a move has to be made (or not made)

But other programs are firing coaches who have had poor performances this year?

I don’t think it’s out of the realm for us to be looking DEEP into Babers and if he truly is a long term option.

Im not worried about W-L. I did not expect to go out and light it up this season. But I did at the minimum expect to be competitive in most games...we simply aren’t that. Most games we look like Holy Cross did when we play them.

I get it, we have injuries but that doesn’t explain stupid penalties. The guys laughing on the the sidelines when they are down by over 20. The lack of hustle. The sharing of highlights on social media platforms after they just got throttled like they are the best team in the ACC.

All of this screams coaching problems and locker room issues. You can make any excuse you want for Babers. But I’m done, until he can start producing, I’m selling him all day.

it's "real athletic department" Do you honestly think there is an SU football booster(s) out there willing to spend 15-20 mil just to have Dino fired this year?

I find this humorous and I am sure a few are getting restless but not happening. We resigned the guy 2 years ago, he had leverage and it hasn't worked out but have to live with it

Where the hell are all you guys pulling this 15 -20 million buyout. I very highly doubt it’s anywhere near that.

If we were Denver fans, a portion of the board would be calling for the QB coaches job lol

That extension was the right thing then, too. It's exactly what Wildhack should have done.

I really don't know I am sure there are some donors out there who are not happy who are ready to pony up, we have a lot of famous alums.

We do have famous alums and SU does get a lot of donations, but not the atheltic department. You can google ACC athletic donations and SU is near the botton is number/percentage of alumni who donate to the athletic department. Plus you are talking about an empty Dome this year, paying for all the virus testing, decreased donations to go along with the ticket revenue. As others have mentioned, several schools have had to cut sports. It's not Monopoly money. It's not going to come out of thin air.

6 - 6 next year is a pipe dream. We still have no sign of having a competent QB. Without one there is no reason to think we will win more than three games next season. Maybe somebody steps up or comes in from the portal....one can only hope.

They don't exist. we don't have those type of boosters. This isn't the SEC and I think some people have a tough time understanding that. It's not about NOT WANTING TO COMPETE. it's about living with the extension, the pandemic, fiscal responsibility for the entire athletic department. Schools like LSU will find a way to fire Ed Orgeron next year if he loses but they will get 3-4 psycho boosters who think it's worth it to do so because although they are extremely wealthy it's worth it for them as individuals because they are 100% rabid fans. We do not have that level of lunatic and I am actually good with it. It's one thing to donate 25 million earmarked to better the facilities, living space for student athletes but 15 mil to fire the coach a year or two early? Meh.. The University can't just take 60% of it and use it to fire Dino

and quite honestly Wildhack isn't going to fire Dino this year anyway because he doesn't want to

I agree he is not firing him this year, losing season next year and he is gone.

There is a very large, privately funded project(s) in the works targeted exclusively to the athletic department and specifically to facilities enhancements for the football program. My understanding is that the $25 million donation from John and Laura Lally, which has been public knowledge for over a year, is a part of, but not the only portion of this initiative.

I like most alumni probably got these in the mail today.

I just gave for the last fundraiser.
Thinking of donating to AD over academics this time. Since either can be tax deductible.

Dino should get one more year just because I don’t think we could get a top tier candidate to replace him.
