I’m not being argumentative here, but I thought last year the characterization of our 25-26 team NIL was “good,” and “competitive” or something of that nature. Am I ‘misremembering?’ “In the game” is scary. Sounds like “level 5”—it’s meaningless without context. [No criticism to you.] And how can we know what ‘the game’ is? We can’t know how much other teams will have, and I would hate it if we based our ‘needs’ on last years’ competitive landscape. Every team will be aiming for more than they already spent because the next guy is aiming for more.
It just concerns me when words like that are used, without actual numbers. And where do those numbers come from and when is the money available and known? From the whales, sure, amounts can be known early. From alums, we only just got a coach, and I would think donations would come in a burst and then in spotty amounts over more time. And the portal opens and closes within a few weeks, so how does that all work? Promises would have to be made based on the actual, held amounts, not on projections, right?
