expecting boeheim to change will set up you for disappointment eventually. This is the year we play 10 guys!

after a hundred years, 3 final 4s, one nc, a bunch of 30 win years and a hundred 20 win years, it's time to just roll with it.

whatever disappointment i could have over going back to 7 guys is offset by the emergence of CJ fair and my newfound lack of heart attacks when scoop has the ball in his hands at the end of game. After 9 years, scoop and I are in a good place.

i think triche would be better if he came off the bench for the same amount of minutes. i think he feels more pressure or something waiting for his hook. christmas, whatever, i look at this as a relatively harmless way to signal to future recruits "if i promise you a starting job, you are going to keep a starting job - i mean look at Christmas! he hasn't done anything in 4 months and he still starts. i'm a man of my word, trust me!"

they're still good enough to win it all. we're not going up against old duke or unlv teams here.

The players, for the most part, have limited their time. What have James, Baye or Rak done to show that they deserve minutes in tight games. Conversely, CJ and Scoop have earned the right to be on the court, a lot.

Our rotation is pretty set against good teams in the tourny IMO.

Baye will back up Fab but he will play sparingly.
Dion, Brandon and Scoop will play all the guard minutes.
CJ and Kris will dominate the forward minutes.

Rak will be out at the first dead ball not to be seen again.
James will get in for a short burst, longer if he makes shots.
MCW will not see the court.

Any criticism of JB not changing is unfair...he has certainly played 10 guys this year. For the most part it has been in meaningful roles. As another poster has pointed out, the players have now figured out the PT. If James were scoring, he'd be in there. If MCW showed JB he was ready, he'd be in there. JB has had more talent this year than he's had before and he's done a nice job of distributing PT and figuring out who plays with who and when. Now it's time to get ready for the tourney so players have, essentially, self selected who will play. I suspect if look at teams that have a reputation of playing more players that their rotation also shortens considerably come tourney time.

Wow the players have become worse!! Don't think so dude it's just the typical jb fear at the end of the season. He gets scared and is afraid to play people. We all know it we expect it We sense that end of season demise! You just know it's coming!

the only thing different in my thoughts from october on this, was that ONCE AGAIN, i sorta believed a few of the idiots on here who were guaranteeing good things from Rak and thought hed be better.

hes not even close.

hes clearly the worst player to ever start for SU. he can get better, but for 11-12 i cant imagine there ever being a worse guy to get his name called night in and night out before the tap.

Oh Lord

Why don't you answer the (simple) question instead of playing the tired "JB is just stubborn and will never change" card? What have Christmas, Southerland, Keita, or Carter-Williams done to show they deserve more minutes?

I still say that if this team gets to the final four, James Southerland will have saved us in one of the games to get us there.
I agree with this. Would like to see him get some run against USF. Keep shooting big fella.

MCW deserves more minutes he just doesn't deserve them more than Scoop, Dion or Brandon and so he is not getting the experiance to gain JB's confidence. He's just behind 3 really good guards it is what it is.

Rak played very well against Cinci but then seemed to regress IMO. He is also still pretty lost defensively on the wing. So no he hasn't earned more time.

James has improved his all around game buit lost his shooting. If he gets his shooting back he will play more. JB has given him a chance to get a couple of shots off in pretty much every game this season. The better he shoots the more he plays.

Yes, agree with all of that.

That's a line of BS. James misses 2 shots and he comes out. That's a double standard. Show me one game that MCW has screwed up so badly that he deserves DNP. To say that he's not ready is just a typical JB cop-out. It's even worse when he says he has 3 veteran guards ahead of him who are playing well -- on any given night usually only 1 of them merits that distinction and the other 2 can't hit the broad side of a barn.

JB plays 7. The talent and potential is irrelevant and always will be. Something about old dogs...

Really. You think James is playing as well now as early. I must have missed the games you have seen. When is the last rebound Rak has gotten or shot Baye has blocked. Only Rak or MCW have a complaint that they should get more time to prove themselves.

The way James has been playing lately, it would seem that he give CJ a rest, not KJ. James' d has vastly improved and his rebounding but his 3 pt shot has disappeared, so without that he is better off playing within 12ft of the basket. Just to point out something, James' d on inbound passes off made shots is the best on the team. A very fine distinction but one never the less. When he and Baye come in together, you know they are going to press.

Yes, Milly, we're down to the core 8 guys now. That's still way deeper than '96, when we only played 6 guys.

And, if there's an injury, MCW has gotten 250 minutes of game time to this point, and Rak has gotten over 300, so if we have someone get injured (God Forbid, knock on wood), we have guys who have played a reasonable amount of time that they can give us some decent minutes.

What we need now is for Dion and James to start hitting some shots again. We get those 2 guys back on track, keep working on improving on the boards, and I think we are in the best possible shape we could be in.

Can you formulate your own opinion? Nothing kills dialogue more than "JB says so - so it must be true".

MCW is behind 3 guards - 2 of which are not bringing much to the table. MCW has shown flashes of ability that those 2 guards lack... and he might even be a hot hand on any given night if given more than 2 minutes. This doesn't mean MCW should be guaranteed 25 minutes - but he should be given an opportunity to get in the flow of the game.

James is pressing now because he knows he has to make something happen within 2 minutes or he will get pulled.

The other poster said it right - JB simply gets afraid in tight games.

Are you aware that we win most tight games?
