I just saw that on google. Losing records get you more money than I could ever imagine.

I laughed at the Herm Edwards hire, and it’s not been a disaster...this feels similar at outset.

tend to think college coaching experience is a must.

Agree. I felt the same about Herm and even Juwan Howard. But it may work if he hires a good staff of recruiters.

I was listening to ESPN radio for about 10 minutes in my car today and it was before they announced the hiring of Woodson.

One of the ESPN hosts was someone who was a graduate of Indiana. She claimed that Indiana was clearly a top 5 job. Mentioned Duke, Kentucky, UNC as probably better ... but that Indiana was about on par with a Kansas and ahead of everything else. And that it should be attractive to pretty much anyone. I wonder what she thought a few hours later when it was Mike Woodson who was given the job.

Reminded me of posters on this board to a certain degree. Indiana and Syracuse are very good jobs. But it doesn't mean that everybody is lining up to leave good jobs to come to those schools.

Juwan Howard worked at Michigan but he is a younger guy who appears to be a great recruiter and he hired Phil Martelli to be his associate HC and handle a lot of stuff to help make the transition easier.

Woodson was an okay pro coach but he is an Indiana alum. No idea if he can recruit and who will get for his staff. Indiana just realized they want to try what Michigan did.

Eh, he took over the Hawks when they were the worst team in the league, and they got better every single year when he was there. Did a good job with the Knicks too. That franchise was just stupid.

I do love when Jason Kidd did this to Mike Woodson.

I wish college kids did this with guys like Jamie Dixon and Buzz Williams who are always on the court.

Kidd got a Techical called on Woodson for being on the court.

Agree. I think he's a good coach. I just wonder about the recruiting aspect and transitioning to college, but having Matta will help.

I think the selling point is NBA connections. He doesn’t seem like someone who will be killing it in recruiting, but selling his connections to the league will be attractive to top kids.

This is the hire their fans wanted.

They got hottest young NCAA name last go around and that didn't work out.
