Is next year JB's last?

The only way Jim can’t win is if he has passed away...he isn’t going anywhere as long as his health remains in tact. He will get another national title and the all times win title...book it

I think that Jim will coach one more year
We can all rest assured now that this will not be correct...just kidding kc!

JB will retire whenever JB thinks it's time. My understanding is that he has made this clear to the AD department - there is no definitive timeline. This has been the case for some time now.

Even though JB publically defined that as "until I can longer win" recently, this has been the understanding since the Coach in Waiting retirement plan was "modified."

he will coach as long as he is allowed. By either the University or God. What else is he going to do?
Agreed.

I said in an earlier post, “I know how hard Jim has worked to attain the record he has and we and Syracuse are the beneficiaries of one hell of a coach, IMO. I do still think he has earned the right to stay as long as as he can and as he said, “I'll stay if I can still win and bring in good players”. I do not think Jim is a lingerer. He'll know when to go and I can see he and JW having that final discussion.”

I am sure he'll stay through Buddy's last year and I also believe that we will be the recipients of more talent because of what we have acquired as of today. We will begin to draw more attention and talent towards Syracuse Basketball as long as that trend remains. Good players will want to play for Syracuse.

Now that both Jim's sons are going to be playing together there is a difference. Sports journalists interest will be piqued to see what happens with the three Boeheims as we move through the coming season. If we do well, better than this past season, we will attract more talented players and Jim will have his opportunity to coach them.

I believe Jim is beginning to again reap what he had originally sown, despite the non- believers. He has achieved and will achieve more great things for this basketball program at Syracuse and the players and we will be the beneficiaries, again.

Its hard to see JB here for very long after Buddy.

I think Buddy stays 2 more unless he has an amazing year and is a lock to go 1st round.

I also can see JB stepping down in the middle of a season to give one of the assistants the job and prevent an external search.

Regardless...JB is the only P5 coach who has 2 of his own kids on his team and contributing. For that reason alone people should chill the out on the retirement talk for the next couple years and stop asking him about it non stop.

JB made it clear to the AD department. That's interesting.

JB stepping down mid season is an interesting take but I only see that happening if their record is extremely poor. The coming season so far appears as if we are pretty talented

I thought Buddy was going to be here for two more years as well. But he won't be. And the reason would surprise you but it is very doubtful he will return for a 5th year.

Wow I figured he would want to play on GMac’s first team

I've thought he'd find a way to sneak into the NBA all along.

I can't see him leaving Syracuse with eligibility for anything other than the NBA. Some records should be within reach and if anything it will give his dad another year of not having to answer a million questions about retirement.

Any hints why he'd leave with a year on the table to not play pro ball?

Yup. Gonna play a season for Hop.

Funny

Maybe we can put his brain inside a robot body like Krang from TNMNT. He could coach forever.
In all seriousness I believe he retires after coaching Buddy and Jimmy. Just my opinion. He gets to spend more time with Julie and visit his sons wherever they end up playing. NBA or overseas. Time to slow down and play grandpa Jim.

I hope he goes out with his kids. Would be a perfect ending
