Why beat yourself up in non-conference when the league is so tough? Thats what a lot of these people dont understand. The Big East has been brutal. By the end of the year we will have had played one of the toughest schedules. Some of these teams have had to go outside of conference just to get quality competition. Until this year the Big 10 has been relatively weak except for a few teams. I have never been one of those who begged JB to schedule tougher non- coference teams. They will be battle tested by the NCAA tournament
And, they will be tested by people who know them inside and out, rather than by others who scout them for a day or two before the game and have not played our personell. Why beat yourself up in non-conference when the league is so tough? A few years ago, when John Cheney was coaching Temple, I would grind my teeth whenever the talking heads praised him for his tough non-con schedule. What choice did he have? The A10 was a very weak conference (except for those few years of "Refuse to Lose" UMass). If Temple played an average OOC schedule, they would have been killed on Selection Sunday. Why beat yourself up in non-conference when the league is so tough? s of Monday, 66 of 345 Division I schools had yet to win a true road game (19 percent), including three in the top 25: Kentucky, Michigan and Florida. Kentucky picked up its first road win Wednesday, but it was a close game throughout at lowly Auburn.
If so nothing I can do about it now, there is no edit function on headlines. Is pretty incredible.
Btw, I don't think the title of this post is right. Izzo doesn't seem to be calling his schedule the Boeheim theory. He is saying that theory is the opposite of his, basically.
Big Ten isn't that strong this year, just overhyped and over rated. Even the best year for the Big Ten is an average year in the Big East.
Now Big Ten isn't anywhere near SEC bad but I'm not sure any other conference that is. You have Kentucky and then Florida as the second best team but since we beat Florida this year they are no longer recognized as a good team.
Someone should remind that writer how Izzo has done against Boeheim head to head.

Apparently, you are not familar with the PAC-12.
If I'm not mistaken, Izzo is 1-4 against JB
Not sure. But if so, that one win was played in Michigan, in Izzo's back yard.
When its all said and done, Boeheim's resume crushes Izzo's. Thats all that matters.

As for "home games", Ann Arbor and Columbus are closer to E. Lansing than NYC is to Syracuse. West Lafayette is about the same distance as NYC and Champaigne/Urbana is probably about the same too.
So once MSU starts conference play, will his "road" games be "home" games?
I'm suprised that MSU plays road games at all...it means that Izzo has to get out the booster seat so that he can see over the dashboard

Are you sure about that? I am as big of a JB fan as the next, but JB can not come close to the number of FF's MSU has been to in recent years. Unfortunately, that's a seemingly end all be all measuring stick with the media likes...
After playing in front of the president on an aircraft carrier and at the kennel in Spokane, how intimidating is Welsh-Ryan Arena or Crisler Center?
Those are Michigan State's next two opponents: Northwestern and Michigan. It's not just about exposure or money. Izzo wants to test his team.
