Jakhari Williams

Honestly, I think that would be a horrible decision and with the lineup of heavy hitters next year will set back all the progress. I think Johnson can be a suitable spot starter, but if Fran isn't close to certain Williams is that guy I am hitting the portal hard. Even if he does think he is, i'm still hitting the portal hard with those big games early in season.
Let me be clear. I 100% agree. I was referring to current personnel. I was just referring to the suggestion that maybe Johnson is ahead of Williams.

Nice part about the portal changes is that we'll know pretty soon. Any starter probably has to be around for spring ball so this portal window should be interesting.

So the question is if Jakhari isn't Manning our qb spot who is?
Thats Good Robert Deniro GIF

I see what you did there...

Which is sort of scary. In his spot duty minutes this season (imo) he wasn’t very good.

This QB room is going to insane.
Jakhari Williams
Michael Johnson Jr

Malik Washington

A four-star quarterback 6'4" and 200 pounds. He visited Syracuse in June 2024 and is also considering Maryland, Virginia Tech, and UCF.

Luke Carney
A three-star quarterback is already committed to Syracuse's 2025 class.

Rich Belin
A three-star prospect who is the 14th best prospect in New York and 91st best quarterback prospect in the country. Belin has been training with former Syracuse quarterback Madei Williams since he was 10 years old.

Portal quarterbacks
Some quarterbacks who may be entering the portal include Thomas Castellanos of Boston College and Matthew Sluka of UNLV and Holy Cross. Don't think we will care about these guys.
Joe Filardi?

The irony of this thread is we might be watching Michael Johnson in the bowl game… which would be totally a Syracuse thing to do.

I trust that Coach Fran and Nixon have enough information to decide if they roll with Jakhari, MJ, with the 2 incoming freshman (I’m really high on the Texan long term). Coach wants to be in the national championship conversation, so my hunch is that they will leverage every relationship they have to bring in another A list portal QB if possible.
Absolutely! You can't win with someone who hasn't had experience.

You have to get a portal QB and a good one if you are intending to win a National Championship or at least compete for one. You wanna be in the conversation get the best transfer you can.

Glad he's playing for us. Surprised he'd risk his draft stock on it but that's his call.
Curious. I understand your point, but, why is a bowl game riskier than game 11?

Game 11 still meant something.

Colorado was awful last year and has exactly one more win than Syracuse this year. Don’t understand how you see this as a proven template, especially when FSU’s cautionary tale is hard to ignore.

Colorado’s offensive line is still bad (they can’t run the ball.) Their defense is fine.

The thing is, Colorado’s two most important players are transfers, but Deion didn’t work the market to get them - he brought them from Jackson State.

Shadeur much improved and getting the ball out faster, which is the key to their success. Travis Hunter is getting Heisman talk - good luck replacing him once he’s gone.
But Shedeur was sacked 38 times more than any other QB in the top 100 so Prime had better concentrate on bettering his OL now.

Wow. I literally just pulled that name out of the sky without doing any research.

Ryan Puglisi
Football player
recorded 118 completions for 1,693 passing yards and 14 passing touchdowns with three rushing touchdowns…as a junior, tossed 133 completions for 1,904 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns in nine starts…also participated in baseball at Avon Old Farms, playing as pitcher and shortstop…
Hasn't played a down at GA. Not a good idea, IMO.

It counts towards the season record. What do any of the mean when measured against an NFL season? My thought is the school should insure them.

Insurance means almost nothing for most of these kids the way the policies get written.

if you are going to play in the SR bowl then playing in a real bowl is probably less an issue.

What if he doesn’t have much to risk?
Yeah. I think there are some incorrect EV calculations from folks and they’re buying into narratives that math doesn’t support. Hopefully this is the start of the pendulum starting to swing back to players actually…..novel concept incoming….playing for their team when they’re healthy.

If Kyle breaks the ACC passing record and throws for 4 TD’s it’s gonna be a big story and cements him on our QB Mt. Rushmore. (Sorry ED, you’re 5th). The Fine Mess crew has already secured funding for a statue (with Jeremy’s 401k as collateral)

If he throws 3 picks, he’s not going to be working the Wendy’s drive-thru next year.

And until they stop counting these games in your real record, stop with the “exhibition” nonsense. It’s going to count as a W or L.

Thankfully Kyle and Fran have expertise in this area and have done the calculus.

If he was locked in the top 64 picks, I’d say thanks nothing more you can do here, but he’s not from what I can tell. He’s going to have to sell teams on his compete, love of the fame, and from the neck up and processing speed.
