We are going to have to temper expectations a bit given next year's schedule. No sense bringing in high priced transfers for a year when the deck is stacked against us. Save that dry powder to keep your youngsters or to strike the portal in the future when we are only a few guys away from being top of the ACC.

You don't save money one year for the next. Success begats success. If we can get impact portal guys to fill holes and give us a better chance for success against a tough schedule, that gives us a better chance to land other impact transfers the next year.

Obviously, this goes pre-Fran, but I wanted to take the temp of the portal and how it has evolved. IMO:

I wonder if Wohlabaugh or Spoon will get a long look at OG in the spring. I would imagine those two plus Washington and Joe Cruz are the four best returning lineman.

He has to have another year left. He was a 2020 class kid. 2020 didn't count for anybody and he redshirted in 2021 only playing in 1 game. That appears to be confirmed on the Kent state roster which is where he played before Colorado.

I wouldn’t rely on what Kent State does or doesn’t put on their website. He played in 4 games in 2020 (which really doesn’t matter as it was the Covid year) and 6 games in 2021.

I could def see that happening if it’s not someone we break the bank on or spend much. Anyone confident in their talent should be willing to come in and compete.

Angeli makes a lot of sense. No starting experience, so shouldn't be too expensive or scare away our young guns, but good talent, NJ connection.

Pull a Marrone:

1. get a 1 year transfer from the portal
2. give Jakhari a series each half (If possible. Maybe not against Tennessee)
3. have Jakhari finish up games when we're ahead

Do that, and Jakhari could be a 3 year starter moving forward, a la Ryan Nassib.

I saw him play in person last year. He's got an arm!

If they can pull in a 1-year transfer and follow the Marrone method (as shown above) then that would be awesome.
