Jason Beck

First you have to like Jason and his family, they have been great additions to the Cuse team.

But I have also heard (from multiple folks) he was a bit over his head this year and other coaches (as they should) have really pitched in to help him in the new role. Also we don't know how much HCDB was limiting what he could do.

Regardless thankful for him, I thought he's done a nice job.

I would be very surprised if Beck doesn’t jump right to another OC position and become a HC within 5 years.

I have asked myself if Dino was meddling too much in the offense which made Beck look bad. Agree the last couple of games were impressive, constructing an offense out of pieces. Who knows? Maybe he stays on under Brown?

Others here have intimidated he is all but gone.
Shame, as I liked him and his family very much

Wonder if he has any interest in the NFL, say as a QB coach.

Somebody is going to get one hell of a coach in my opinion. His adjustment over the last 3 games got us a bowl game and his playcalling against Wake was phenominal.. He is destined for big things in coaching.
Agreed.

Keep him!

He is definitely gone unless something absolutely insanely crazy happens
I agree he is almost definitely done.

But re the insanely crazy, this IS Syracuse Athletics. Expect the unexpected.

Only a person with genius have put together that offense on the fly during the season. It produced huge results and was not even 1/10th developed. It would have given Syracuse a real identity.

I like him too and the pivot the last three games was commendable. That said, our offense was not good for half the season. How much does he take for that?

The OL did struggle but I'm curious on how Shraders arm hurt what could have been a decent offense?

Brown's number one reported characteristic is his recruiting ability.

If Brown does down with Beck and decides he wants to keep Beck as OC, there's no reason to think Beck can't be retained.

I think having a first year head coach and a second year OC is really taking risks, but they both have certain characteristics that imply excellence.

If that happens, I'd have to hope they get a ton of experience at the other offensive positions and on the defensive side of the ball, possibly even head coaching experience at DC.

I imagine Brown is going to watch every game we played this year on repeat for a week or two before he can even begin to make some of the important decisions he's going to need to make quickly. The learning curve has got to be immense.
