Enlighten me on how I'm wrong. This isn't a tournement team we played, and if they were they would most likely be a 14-16 seed, I'm sorry, they're not good.
 
This quality win over la tech is canceled out by a awful loss against Michigan

La Tech was very good offensively, but they were just as bad defensively. They were ok. It's a decent win, but not one that we can hang our hat on come the end of the season. They won't be in the "good win" category.
 
La Tech has 1 win over a top 150 team, 6 wins over top 200 teams, 1 loss to a top 300 team, 2 losses to top 100 teams. They aren't tournament resume win.
 
Holy Cross has an RPI ranking nearly 100 spots better than La. Tech in case anyone wants to actually research the facts.

Problem is facts and common sense don't help people's arguments out.
 
La. Tech has 1 more good OOC opponent NC State, but their schedule is not strong and their OOC SOS is 349. This win is our 3rd best win of the year behind Iowa and Holy Cross. It is not a resume win.

I didn't say they did. I'm basing it on what they did last year, who their coach is, and what I saw on the court today. Smith, Appleby, Hamilton and Kyser are all legit players. they play poor team defense, though, and turn the ball over too much
 
let's put it this way.
they're better than at least a few of the acc teams we'll play this year

And all that with a pg who still is tentative but doesn't necessarilly want to play pg yet(hopefully the former), and 17 turnovers to boot.

Not to be happy with today but I just can't stand people saying this is a bad team, worst of the jb era, worse then 07-08. Not even close, imo. Frankly we can't even put a ceiling on them right now.

I think all that winning in november/dec has gotten to our heads, and some of us are folding. Remember when the 06-07 dnic senior team loss 3-4 in nov and probably should have made the tournament still with a senior lead team who were maxing out on their potential. For crying out loud.

Dare I say yes the team probably needs a wake up call, but any giving up whether it be by the fans or coaches needs to be abandoned.

JB is also one of those "people" who are telling you this isn't a good team. JB is many things, subtle is not one of them. This is not about getting a "wake up call."

The REALITY of what we have seen on the floor through 9 games is pretty solid evidence that this is not a good team. When the HOF coach, the guy who has seen these guys play day in and day out, is telling you this is not a good team, we need to give that merit.

What I have a problem with is some really good posters here are being called out because they have openly acknowledged what is unfolding on the court. It is possible to be a great fan AND to acknowledge that this is not a good team by Syracuse standards. These are not mutually exclusive positions in my opinion.
 
This was a close game, but not as close as the final score. I was encouraged throughout.

This team needs to learn to finish games. We were on the verge of blowing open the game numerous times but were unable to do so. I'm hopeful they can figure it out.

and yet it's clear same HOF coach told Welch (someone he probably wouldn't feed any BS) within the past few days that he's confident they'll grow into something pretty good.
JB never goes hyperbolic in pressers, does he?

He means that Eastern Michigan played it and beat them with our own zone that Murphy lifted from his time here.

The game was tied with 4 seconds left. How the hell could it not be as close as the final score. A turnover there and we probably lose.

I was around to see that team. This one is quite a bit better. I remember that team, being blown out by an 0-10 Connecticut team. That was the bottom, in those days.

I know. I was backing his point up vs. the poster he was responding to who said we shouldn't have played the 2-3 zone at Michigan.
