JB on First Take approx 11:30 AM today

Or he's just trolling us fans throwing out game numbers he knows are wrong and that he knows we know are wrong... which is the more likely scenario.

3 or 4 years ago, had he retired, I would have come into town for the send off to pay the man some respect (since I live a few hours away).

This season really closed the door on that. I have lost respect for him at this point and just want him gone. Won't be making the journey for his last game, whenever that is. This is part of his legacy for me at this point. I'm not even mad or sad about it anymore - just is what it is.
Jim won't miss you being there.

The thing I notice about these interviews is that for the national interviews he is engaged, witty and lively. He sounds disinterested and half-asleep for the local media interviews like he 'd rather be doing anything else. That has always bothered me, he seems to care more about a national audience than us local yokels, the ones supporting the team year in and year out and trudging up to the Dome in snowstorms and rough winter conditions to set attendance records.
Excellent observation -agree.
No coincidence that the national interviews generally fawn over JB and his legendary HOF career.
Local interviews the past 8 seasons have required facing reality by discussing losses, roster malpractice and a degrading program.
I prefer the disinterested, half-asleep JB for local media interviews to the too-frequently caustic, venom-spewing alternative that humiliates reporters and throws players he recruited/coaches under the bus in post-game pressers. Both versions are sad though.

It's nice that Wright says nice things about him. I'm sure he has a great deal of respect for JB. It doesn't make it true though. I have seen Wright at the Hoop Hall classic. Never saw JB though. Red was there this year. Maybe it would help with Mintz who was playing. along with other top jr's.
Mintz was playing on Jan 15th with Oak Hill at the Hoop Hall Classic.
The exact date and time we were playing FSU. Surprised that you saw Red there or wasn’t it that day and he was watching someone else?

May be JB is grounded by Julie, worried that if he flys all over recruiting on private jets, he would have to take recruits out to parties and strip clubs and JB will be Rick Pitino 2.0.
I think Julie likes Jim out of the house. Fact is Jim doesn't have a life outside of basketball. He lives breathes and sleeps bball. Retirement probably scares him. This is a guy who has lived his whole life within a 50 mile radius. Id say a third of his life in the gym or his office since he was in 9th grade. Its all he knows. Hes not leaving without a nudge from someone.

1:09:30 confirmed-
Our team wasn't good and my kids were good. They both played better than I expected ever to play".
Followed that by mentioning "losing our center during a 4 game winning streak".
No added context.
You have to start with the question

He does play golf.

This thread is a microcosm of where our society is: let’s parse out snippets, remove all context or nuance, just to score points against our “enemy”.
No benefit of the doubt that there may be a misspeak. Not when we can post a gotcha!
His kids were good. Other players were good. The team was not.
The offense was good. Then, when Jessie got hurt, we had nothing in the middle (on offense).
I am ready for a change, and hope we go outside of the e current group as much as anyone, but I also cannot ignore how the team handled themselves and represented Syracuse but playing incredibly hard until the very end of the season. The staff and especially JB deserve a lot of credit for that.
Also, players who work Jim’s program continue to develop: Cole, Jesse and Frank all come to mind, but every player got better as the year progressed.
Could JB be more careful when he speaks off the cuff? Absolutely? Should he be more thoughtful, rather than trying to be sure his “wit”, which can come across as caustic, is on display. Yes. But as to these cherry-picking quotes: Nothing to see here, IMNSHO.

It's also important to keep in mind that JB worked harder this past summer than he has in a LONG time. We were in with a lot of great prospects. Dior. Westry. Lands. Clingan. Filipowski. JJ.

And we went o-fer.

I like the class we got -- foundational program types, most of which will probably be four-year guys. And it is important to have quality depth on the roster. But none of the guys we landed project as immediate impact guys, which is something this roster desperately needs.

Edit -- to be clear, I agree with what Dasher states above. Just that he was more active / involved this summer than he has been in many, many years [which has nothing to do with whether he went on the road or not -- my recollection is that a lot of the stuff took place on campus].
Would this be akin to the '01 class filled with guys that were good program guys for a long time but no star (at least at first, we know Hakim was a nidden gem that developed into a star)? If so, will we get a star in the next class to compliment them?

Very fair. One other note I'd add, there is no way a five-man class will have all five stick around. Some will portal out, it's just the way it is. Even pre-portal, no way a five man class would be sticking around. It just doesn't happen.

I like this class as a foundational class as well, but we'll be lucky to have 3 guys that stick around and really contribute out of the 5.
If I hear a class is full of 4 year guys, my natural follow up is “but how many of those years will be with us?”

If your saying that Syracuse basketball fans are acting the same as spoiled, entitled Alabama, LSU etc, football fans, then yes, I agree.
No, I'm saying SU fans are far far worse.

They played the day after that as well according to your link.

I think Jim did better during covid as it evened the field. Other coaches couldn't travel, tournaments were canceled or reduced. Basically everyone was on Zoom.
Now that things are open we will see the effort Jim put into recruiting.

If there is even a question of effort in recruiting - a change should be made. Doesn't matter who is coaching and if they are a legend or have no legacy. There is no excuse for not putting in 100% effort. That is insane if that is accepted.

Recruiting for the top talent is more about NIL money now than anything else.

If that is the case then we should be out recruiting the men who will deliver the NIL contracts. Weitsman needs to stop being a soft verbal and commit already.

You know the program isn’t in great shape when people are mad about what JB said instead of the fact that he went on a Dakich show produced by Clay Travis’ media outlet lmao

NIL bags man. At least I didn't get a homoerotic gif this time
You clearly don’t get it.
JJ Sterling didn’t choose Notre Dame because of NIL deals.

Look at the ESPN top 100 its got a lot of schools smaller than Syracuse getting recruits.
We have a 5 person class none on that list.

You don’t even get NIL.

Kids outside of the elite of the elite aren’t getting NILs before entering college. That is a football issue not basketball.

Jim Boeheim has a done poor job managing and keeping the roster stock and full of talent.
