That pitch was so similar to the one that changed Tony Conigliaro's life. At the age of 22 he had 100 homeruns, the most by any one of that age. He sat out the rest of that season, then the whole of the the next one. He made a remarkable return to baseball earning "Comeback Player of the Year." But eventually he lost sight in the damaged eye and had to retire from baseball.
