Has literally been the case since day 1. Was discussed by prominent sports journalist figures.

No idea why anyone is still acting like this is new.

At best, these are set up like NFL contracts where they'll announce the max but you only have x% guaranteed.

At worst, well, you fell in with not great people in the deal.

Would guess less than half of the money being offered by WVU for Jessie is guaranteed. He will have to have a spectacular year to fully realize his NIL deal.

Would also guess our offer was lower, but at least equally if not better guaranteed.

Reading between the lines of Dasher’s posts…my guess is he’s hearing that Judah is unsure if he’s staying in draft and likely weighing offers from other schools if he does come back. Hence the scrubbing of his Insta.

He’s probably also hearing that crazy money keeping us from getting decent reinforcements….or the options left are not great.

Hard sell for AA without s track record if he’s looking at players outside the #TTO family.

Everyone is just waiting for some good news with either Judah coming back or getting a center and a guard replacement. I don’t think there is a player out there who can replace Judah. It will have to be better by numbers.

I also saw a scout say the scheme didn't fit him, and I'm worried he'd be looking for something different to impress scouts. Obviously the zone makes him a defensive wild card, but I saw one comment that he could have had better numbers on offense if he played in a system with better spacing (especially in the Jesse/Maliq lineup, I assume). We'll have a new scheme next year, which is said to include m2m, so hopefully that's a non-factor in his decision, although I'm not sure our spacing will be much better.

I would love the PG and C from Utah Valley if Judah bolts. Both just went into the portal and will see if they follow Madsen to Cal. If you watch their highlight video, they seem to have a great chemistry. The center Bandaogo is super athletic and averaged a double double this year and Woodbury has some Devo in his game

I'll pass on the guard. The big man I would take in a heartbeat.

Nearly all of the "top" portal centers come from a fringe NCAA team or worse. Many from NIT level teams. Utah Valley was 64 in kenpom and 29 in adj def .

This is no guarantee but I suspect this week into early next there is a bit of late rush of guys into the portal. One of of the things with Judah is I have yet to see anything out there on workouts he is having with certain teams. A number of other guys have so far( seems less overall than normal) and in the past so have our guys going through the process. NIL seems to have changed everything- including the evaluation process ( at least in terms of what's publicly shared).

If Judah comes back, we have a pre-season All American.

I’m not mad about the Jesse situation. Honestly. I would like to have him, but give me a guy that can be a poor man’s Clint Capela and I actually think it’ll be better for what we want to do.

There is plenty of time. Judah, to me, is the difference between big time upside and being competitive.

I also like that Red is working without a bunch of fanfare. He got JJ and Westry and it happened without having the macys day parade of rumors before it.

Based on Reds approach he offers more players vs Jim who concentrated efforts on a few targets so i would imagine they have spoken to a number of Gs and Cs. The question is have any of them shown interest. I would have to think that with our Center position wide open we would be very attractive for lots of kids.
