SU 36 points on 58 plays. Wake 29 points on 84 plays.

SU 121 yds on 30 carries. Wake 80 yds on 43.

SU's redzone defense forcing 4 FG attempts.

Nassib 20/28 (71%) with at least two drops. Not bad for a guy with accuracy issues.

The only real defensive issue was when the blitzes didn't result in early pressure and Wake was able to attack the zone behind it. The new guys all did some nice things and didn't looked over matched.

Thought the specials looked dynamic. DG might have gotten flagged on missing timing a hit on a guy who didn't want to FC, but his downing the ball at the one was a great play. As noted elsewhere Raupers was solid, Kobena looked good, and you didn't get the feeling watching Rene that a huge turnover was a real potential. Wilkes made a great tackle that sustained the momentum in the 4th on KO coverage.

The young guys on defense looked solid. Crume moved the pile, Goggins and Bromley made some nice plays in the backfield, Dy and Cam impressed in their first games.

Obviously need to be better on 3rd down on offense and defense.

Definitely looks like a bend, don't break D, though.

How were Wakes snaps and holds or was it the kicker that struggled?

the redzone defense was huge.

gives hope that the urgency and tightness shown there could be translated to the whole game.

on both the 3rd and goal TD from the 16 and the play where the QB got injured where they waived off the completion down to the 2 yard line (which would've been ballgame if not for the hold) the defense only rushed 3 and the QB had too much time - I hope Shafer sees that in the tape and moves away from that call as they seemed to have much more success when bringing a lot of pressure as opposed to dropping more back into zones.

otherwise the redzone D was great

Great come-back; great win. And the comment about red-zone defense is right on.

But the rushing stats might be misleading -- Bailey got half of the SU total in one burst; for 3 quarters, the SU rushing attack was anemic.
Wake easily moved the chains on any 3rd and short or 4th and short by quarterback sneaks.
Pass rush -- not much pressure from SU front.
Pass blocking -- the SU OL looks in better condition; but Nassib was under pressure all night long. With our veteran line, you might expect better.

Take the win; just don't use your DVR to replay the first 3 quarters.
