Lebron James is a coward

Unfortunately playing with Wade and Bosh (assuming they get by Indy and Bosh returns) will always cloud the argument for G.O.A.T.

Why would that cloud the argument? MJ played alongside Hall of Famers (Pippen and Rodman) and we don't knock him for it.

He played great today. Noone disputes him being the best in the game, lets just see if he can overcome his two criticisms; Winning a Championship and coming through in the clutch. If/when he does that, I think he can be put up against MJ for best to ever play the game. What does "coming through in the clutch" mean? Who are you comparing him too? Are you asking to see the same thing from Kobe?

Since 2007 (arbitrary date the ESPN chose that I went and checked myself) Kobe is 1-7 in the playoffs in the 4th qtr or OT with :24 seconds left shooting to tie or win.

Definitely agree though...to ever be in the greatest conversation he needs to win a couple of titles. But I'm not sure that he is any more or any less clutch then anyone else really (outside of Melo of course...who is far and away more clutch the nearly everyone).

How many wings have had 40/18/9 games in the playoffs before? I'll hang up and listen.

Indiana...today was your chance to step on their throat. Instead of sending doubles at Lebron, it should have been triple teams. Make someone else beat you.

ALso interesting that this thread gets moved to Pro Sports when Lebron has a good game. LMAO

I guess you could say MJ lucked out by having Pippen and Rodman on his team...He didnt search them out and join them by leaving his team and joining "Pippen's" team.

BTW, I should also say...go0d for you for having the stones to post back again today.

I don't see any of the negative people on here today. Just like they weren't after game one. Cherry pickers.

Good for you LIC (that's you're new shortened handle because typing the whole thing out takes more effort than i have right now).

Coming through in the clutch means hitting "the big shot" ie Durant last night, tie game with 18 seconds left and he drills a go-ahead three to win the game. Outside of the one he hit in Cleveland, LBJ hasnt dont anything in the clutch except miss shots, free throws or turn the ball over. That isnt Lebron hating, its fact. Im comparing him to Jordan and until he "comes through in the clutch", he cant be compared to Jordan. 40/18/9 is sick, but it doesnt change the fact that to be considered GOAT, you have to hit big shots and win Championships because thats what the current GOAT (Jordan) has done.

I think because its impossible to knocks Lebron's numbers..people have to creative a narrative about Lebron. "He doesn't want it...he isn't clutch."

It's just like the Peyton Manning media narrative before he won his chip.

Why is this guy so interesting?

"Im taking my talents to South Beach" "Not one, not two, not three..." Left his hometown team to join with 2 other superstars. Best player in the NBA, maybe ever, but still hasnt won and has a choke label. Dude is definately interesting.

Winning championships? Yes, he absolutely needs to do this to be in the megasuperstar group with Jordan and Kobe.

Coming through in the clutch? That's the biggest B.S. I've heard in (choose a number) years. Why can't one win convincingly?

So let's discredit Tiger at Pebble, or Rory at Congo, or UNLV in 1990. Those people and teams never were very "clutch".

Those people and teams never were very "clutch".

Its just one of those things you hear a lot, so people repeat it. Like Carmelo being a better scorer than Lebron. If Charles Barkely says it enough..it must be true!

Im not a huge fan of Lebron but ill admit hes a beast and the best in the NBA but some of you Lebron nuthuggers are ridiculous acting like "clutch" is some made up term that in no way pertains to evaluating an NBA megastar.

Lebron was not clutch in the Dallas series... that certainly is true. But to say he is not clutch overall is kind of silly. Do no other games or playoff series count?

In the playoffs outside of the one Cleveland shot he hit what are his clutch moments? I would argue that what he did today was clutch given the fact his team was staring down the barrel of a 3-1 deficit and he had to be a one man wrecking crew with help from D-Wade, who he had to get going with some sick passes. However, i dont recall him ever hitting too many big shots in big moments.

How is this for clutch in the playoffs?

28 ppg, 8.4 rpg, 6.8 apg

How many have better career playoff numbers? Unfortunately, I don't have all the individual plays memorized from his 100 playoff games through his career.

We can probably just agree to disagree at this point. :)

Haha yea I think we have an entirely different view on what clutch is.

For your viewing pleasure, and edification, a sampling.

The Detroit game where he scored like the last 30 points or something against a ridiculously good Pistons team

Down 1, 10 seconds left and you have to bet your life savings on Lebron making or missing the game winning shot. Which way are you betting? If he passes or doesnt get the ball the bet is off which means this hypothetical wager will never happen anyway ;)

To win your money back you can go double or nothing on him making 2 free throws with 5 seconds left, down 2 for the tie. :p

It's not his fault that his teammates miss wide open shots when he passes to them. Even Jordan passed to Kerr and he made it. Do you think people would be bashing Jordan if Kerr missed?

Yeah, the guy scored the last 25 points of a playoff game to put his team in the finals. That's ridiculous. Also, he scored the game tying and game winning basket of the game that put his team in the finals last year. I understand they lost in the finals and he wasn't amazing, but he was incredible in the Bulls series.

The thing with that is you should bet your life savings on pretty much everyone missing that shot. Last second, game winning or tying shots are usually terrible propositions. What is the stat, Kobe is 0-12 in those situations in the playoffs since 2007 or something? Doesn't mean he is a choker; just those shots are usually really tough to make. (Especially if you're Kobe and you will pretty much shoot no matter how many guys are on you, but I digress).

As for the GOAT stuff; I love Lebron as a player but I don't see him surpassing Jordan. Jordan was pretty freaking amazing. But the performance yesterday was pretty legendary stuff. The run he and Wade put on in the third quarter was classic stuff.

There is virtually no way for Lebron to ever crack the top 3 GOAT list. He will fall in comfortably in the 4-9 range when its all said and done. Most freakishly gifted bball player of all time, imo...but certainly not the greatest.

That's sort of silly to say since he is just reaching his prime and his story is still being written. Why not let his career play out?

It's kind of funny to watch people on this board react after every game he plays. One minute somebody is proclaiming he's an underachieving choker and the next day the same person is saying he's potentially the greatest ever to play the game. Good stuff.

I think he is potentially the greatest player to ever play the game but his propensity to come up small in big situations holds him back from that distinction...as of now.
