LeQuint Allen to NFL Draft

Just double checked his stats and I was incorrect. The only fumble he had was versus Miami. Please explain his ball security issues.
Practice

And I truly can’t imagine he won’t want him back. LaQuint will be a huge asset next year and potentially preseason all American.

It’s not about wanting him back for the team

It’s about wanting him back if he thinks he can improve his draft status.

If Coach Fran doesn’t think he can, he will tell him to move on to the next level.

It’s one of the reasons these kids trust him so much. He’s open and honest

Not to be a downer, but have you seen our schedule next year. Brutal doesn't even describe it. Think the exact opposite of SMU's 2024 schedule.
If we want to be a playoff contender, next year's schedule shouldn't scare us. These are the teams we need to be able to go toe to toe with to raise the reputation of both us and the conference. Do you think Tennessee fans are concerned that they have to play us and Georgia next year?

It’ll be pretty nice if Cuse did what they did last year with OG, Wax and Barron all announcing they are coming back in 3 consecutive days.

Announce Allen, McCord and Reed the same way this year. Get more hype in the off season again

No, but also I don't think they respect as that much.

Spoiler alert: we're not a playoff contender. Maybe we will become one (would love it), but we're certainly not there yet. We get 7 wins next year, I'd be happy with that and then hope to get back to 9-10 wins in 2026.

Let’s wait to see who is and isn’t back next year before we decide what we are and what we aren’t. There is a long runway between now and summer session including finishing out this recruiting class and the spring portal. 2 of our 22 starters this year came from the spring portal and both were All ACC.

Sure. I'm just stating what I believe based on what I know now. That can certainly change but even if our entire graduating class got waivers to play another year, we're not a contender. Our D would likely get shredded by the big boys. However, I trust Fran knows this is and is looking for ways to further improve!

If Kyle doesn’t come back, we have to get a QB from the portal to remain competitive against that schedule.

Edit: experienced starter QB

Yeah I mean if our entire offense outside of OG is back, it makes a huge difference and I’d argue that makes us an ACC contender alone. Defense you’re right, starting with Diggs and then at safety we have some major holes irrespective of the waiver situation.

I actually told McCord that as much as I might want him back, I know it is not about the fans, the team or anything except what is best for him. He has to do what he wants.

Yeah, I guess you're right about being an acc contender (with McCord back). We could certainly contend there, although at Miami and Clemson is a tall order but who knows.

Not to mention at ND, at SMU, neutral(ha ha) Tennessee. I mean you don’t know what will happen year to year(see FSU) but when you have four 2024 playoff teams on your 2025 schedule and none are at home, you have your hands full. And that doesn’t even account for Miami.

I wish him well and am grateful for his contributions to Syracuse. He seems like a workhorse and a great person.

I could be completely off base but I don't see Lequint as a productive NFL running back.
I go back and forth. Smart skilled guys sometimes do better than you'd think. I wouldn't be surprised if he finds a home and sticks for a while and I wouldn't be surprised if he can't stick beyond a practice squad. Are there guys with similar skills available that have more athleticism? Can he find the right situation?

lol we’re worried about who may leave if the back to back 1000 yard rusher who had over 500 yards receiving comes back?

Jesus fellas

In fairness, these things are a lot more fun to argue about than the arguments we’ve been having for 2 decades lol.

And yes, it’s still a ridiculous thing to worry about.
