% likelihood of each player returning

That’s the problem though
Can you explain what you mean though? I think people are trying to assert that JB and staff won’t be able to attract another high level transfer if Buddy is on the team because any potential transfers will worry that Buddy will get most of the shots? I don’t fully buy this reasoning. Most of the top teams have a few really talented players and they learn to play as a team and share the wealth. Especially if Cole leaves but even if just Jimmy leaves, we’ll need another high-level scoring wing.

Buddy would be an amazing "Robin" - the 2nd guy.

The problem is, he's "BatMan" for this team, but he's not that guy, and never will be.

Does that make JB Chief Gordon?
He goes to the Bat Signal far often. ;)

We all know that IF Buddy returned, then JB would once again play him All The Minutes.
And he would take All The Shots.

And play None Of The Defense.
Our parts don't fit well together. If Buddy was on the 2013-14 team instead of Cooney nobody notices the defense.

People nitpick Buddy's offensive game more than anyone I can remember. Statistically his season is the same as Battle's in 2017-18 and he didn't ever receive the same criticism here.

Jesse getting more shots, Joe playing off the ball.

The idea that its a 1 for 1 is silly.

And thats not even to say you arent right. We might not be better. But its not negative to want to switch it up after 3 years of the Joe/Buddy backcourt with only 1 tourney birth
This.

Plus with Jimmy and Buddy gone, JB might get back to coaching without any "Biased Subjectivity", and recruits may get slightly easier without the perception of minutes are not available at certain positions.

Can you explain what you mean?
I'm not AZ, but Buddy is probably the 3rd best player on a top-10/20 team. That's not a knock on him, he's skilled, but any team where he's the best player isn't going to be talented enough to win consistently. And him being a 5th year senior on his father's team where he's coming off of leading the P5 in minutes and FGAs isn't going to have transfers lining up to take a chance on Syracuse.

Buddy - 5%
Jimmy - 5%
Swider - 40%
Benny - 50%
Frank - 75%
Jesse - 95%
JG3 - 100%
Symir - 100%

Going to need to pull a rabbit or 2 out of the portal to get back on track next season. If not it's gonna be another painful year.

I get what people are saying and what Gottlieb said about Daddyball and all that. But don’t you think JB would rather win at a high level and compete for championships over making his kid the team’s leading scorer and unquestioned star? Buddy would still be a key cog in the wheel even if there were other better players around him. Doesn’t it stand to reason that JB would rather have Buddy be on a team that could compete for championships than have him be the star and leading scorer on a mediocre team?

My problem with JB these days is that he can’t really recruit at a high level anymore and he struggles with player retention and his offensive schemes are stale.

All we had to do was keep 2 players that left from last years team and we might be 20-5. The retention is the worst of it for me. We never keep our AAA to AAAA players long enough to get the fruits of their talent anymore. It used to be the NBA. Last year it was the portal.

I'm not saying we should run the same team back nor did I imply that. I'm always surprised that people are so quick to run Buddy off when he is clearly our best offensive player. Who is going to replace his 20ish points a night?

Buddy will be the center of the offense again.

And, defense is half the game, so how many of his 20 points on 16 FGAs would need to be replaced if we upgraded the D?

JAB wants to win his way and for the past two seasons, it's been with Buddy being the primary offensive player and I don't see that changing.

I was just answering the question literally. I wasn't suggesting I didn't want Buddy back. I want him back.
lol sorry my sarcasm didn’t come off appropriately.

Are you sure you got what Gottlieb was saying?

He didn't suggest that JB doesn't want to win and wants to make his kid(s) the leading scorer.

He was suggesting its very difficult to recruit and retain good players with your kids playing all the mins and getting all the shots.

...and the fact we don't have another SG in 3 years kind of proves that out

17-18 were 23-14 and defense is half the game, where Battle is miles better than Buddy. It’s not the same.

I want Buddy back as long as he is paired with a new PG. Let Joe be the super sixth man because he isnt a point G and Buddy and him up top are horrible on D. Q or the potential recruit and Buddy and im all in.
Simply put i want to see anyone other Joe at the point. If Buddy leaves that opens the door for Joe at the 2 if he stays we have the same combo and the same issues.

I do not hate Buddy. He seems like a nice well rounded person. His game is one dimensional. He looks to shoot the ball virtually every time he touches it and faces no repercussions. How does that make his teammates better having that green light? They stand around waiting for him to shoot and the bigs only hope to to get an offensive rebound for some offensive action. Defensively he is a huge liability, Yikes. Defense wins championships.

I specifically called out offensive in my post. Now you’ve moved the goalposts.

Gun to head

pg -Sy
Sg - jg3
SF - Benny
PF - Transfer
C - Jesse

Bench
Justin Taylor
Cope
Bunch
Frank

another rough year
This is why I want the coaching change to happen now. Why is JB coming back for this. There’s no way we can pencil in Benny to the starting lineup after what he’s shown this year. If Jesse is here, he’s going to get double teamed every time he touches the ball next year.
