I won’t respond to this because its been asked to not be said as an opinion. This is not true - whether you agree with the coach or not - JB plays who he thinks will help the team win - so there is at least one reason why your scenario wasn't employed - JB didn't think it was better - he could've been wrong, but the head coach's opinion does count.
Thanks for sharingnaaa I'm hearing it isn't happening. We're coming in pretty late and the "You can come in and earn minutes" isn't always well received
Thanks for sharing
Same lame recruiting pitch. Earn minutes? If you aren't ordained a starter you hardly play or see your minutes increase over the course of the season, here.
When you would be the highest rated recruit in this class, (and I bet these kids keep track of this) you want to hear a little different sales pitch.
He committed to Pitt, he probably wants to be the guy where ever he goes. Know your audience
In the sum history of college basketball? Probably thousands.Has there ever been a college basketball team that lost their leading scorer and was better the next season?
Hs kids are rarely “ordained starters” unless their best of the class, which Mintz is not. He is a high four star and maybe top 50 recruit, but he’s probably not getting ordained starting pitch from any of his schools recruiting him. JB is on record saying he thinks he’ll start freshman next year, whether that was smoke or not, Mintz would clearly be in line to take a starting spot just looking at our roster next year on paper. Also with his visit to the Duke game a lot can happen, even if we are late in the process. Not saying we have a better chance than any of his other schools, but it seems the kid won’t know until he takes all of his visits. Thanks for sharing

I'm not positive your second sentence is true and that's the problem.I get what people are saying and what Gottlieb said about Daddyball and all that. But don’t you think JB would rather win at a high level and compete for championships over making his kid the team’s leading scorer and unquestioned star? Buddy would still be a key cog in the wheel even if there were other better players around him. Doesn’t it stand to reason that JB would rather have Buddy be on a team that could compete for championships than have him be the star and leading scorer on a mediocre team?
My problem with JB these days is that he can’t really recruit at a high level anymore and he struggles with player retention and his offensive schemes are stale.
pretty close to mine!Buddy - 5%
Jimmy - 5%
Swider - 20%
Benny - 50%
Jesse - 90%
Frank - 75%
JG3 - 100%
Symir - 100%
Buddy is a weapon.
We don’t use him as a weapon.
Joe deserves a chance to play his natural position.
Buddy had his 4 years.
I would like to see some change. I think Joe could replace Buddy’s volume and another PG would diversify the offense.
Buddy’s a good player but he plays too much and having depth is on the HC.
Joe and Buddy shoot very similar percentages.Just because JG3 is naturally a 2 doesn't mean hes better than Buddy. Is he starting for any ranked team or a 6th man? I'd say the latter. You could have a good team with Joe at 2 and lament the fact you don't have a better team with Buddy at 2.
I'm not sure why fans are writing off players leaving currently. I don't want to guess because I don't know what the AD has planned or JB.
Buddy 100% (doing for dad)I know it's been alluded to and discussed a bit in other threads, but I'm hoping we can use this thread to just focus on our current players and how likely it is that each one is back next year. So, give your best-guess likelihood % for each of:
- Buddy
- Jimmy
- Swider
- Benny
- Jesse
- Frank
I was just happy to get a shot off before the clock ran out in 2017-2018.I specifically called out offensive in my post. Now you’ve moved the goalposts.
Need Cole backI was just happy to get a shot off before the clock ran out in 2017-2018..
Does anyone have the answer to my question?
Is it a non-zero chance that Buddy comes back?
I assume it’s non-zero for Jimmy since we’re trying to get the waiver.
Again, just asking since it will impact a bunch of other stuff.
We need Cole back.I want Cole back if the others are leaving. We just have too big a hole projected at forward next year if he were to leave. Really concerned next year will be worse if we don’t get the front court figured out.
If Cole comes back with jeese and Joe. And Judah we will be back in Dance!!We need Cole back.
Just to have a body who can play defense and give us some offensive options.
On a NC contender though he is probably a 3rd forward.
